Did this part on the 12th of October plus we went on the upper part for a 1/2 mile then turned around and did the Ute trail for about a mile then came in on the Corkscrew trail.

Did this on October 12 and we peeled off and did a mile on The Ute trail and a mile on Liberty trail. Very nice trail with a lot of signs.

on Liberty Cap Trail

A steady climb most of trail. Found a great view of the Grand Valley. Try to depart trailhead early in the morning to spare yourself the exposure to the heat in the summer months. Make sure you hydrate adequately!! All worth it.

Although it’s a climb, the wide path and relatively even surface make this a pleasant walk.

A great trail with not too many ups and downs. My mom and I are from Minnesota, the flat land, and she had never hiked before. She did great!! Make sure you have enough water and wear sunscreen, it sure got warm!

Love this one for a quick early morning or evening hike. Trail/road is nice enough to run on.

Hiked from lower monument via the wedding trail to the upper monument and back. Approx 12 miles round trip. Would highly recommend! Views are incredible, terrain was easily managed by an amateur hiker like me. Start early while it's still cool out (I went 9/16) because it does get pretty warm during day. Bring LOTS of water as well. We did happen to see one big horn sheep too.

Difficult ascending, but absolutely gorgeous when you get up there. Hiking up to black ridge trail takes quite awhile and is serene, especially when flowers are in bloom.

One of the most rewarding hikes in the valley.

Great trail. Lots of shade, gorgeous views. Lizards everywhere. Kid and dog friendly. And the drive out from Junction isn’t super long but you still feel like you’re pretty far out.

Rode Rim Rock Dr from the east entrance to the west entrance, and then finished the 'Tour of the Moon' loop via public roads Broadway, S Broadway and S Camp Rd. The route outside the park is well-signed. Traffic was light on this weekday ride, and the views were awesome. Lights are required due to 3 tunnels.

pretty short and uneventful. I'd opt to continue on the main trail and do old Gordon's instead. I haven't found old gordons on all trails yet but its marked at the trailhead map in the parking lot.

Nice way to see some of CNM's formations up close. Some shade along the trail but not a ton, so lots of water and starting early are musts in August. Unfortunately, not much wildlife our morning. We started at the upper trailhead and went to Independence Monument (~3.5 miles) before turning around and heading back. Note that this trail is ~12 miles round-trip (upper to lower trailhead or vice versa, then back) and not 6.8 or 10.9 as listed here.

Perfect short hike! Trail was beautiful and really clean/well kept. Just under 3 miles round trip. Took two dogs and felt it was a great hike for dogs.

This is one of my favorite hikes in the valley. I quit often see the big horn sheep in this valley. It always takes a lot longer to do this hike when I stop and watch the sheep.

Love this hike. 5 miles in and out. Beautiful scenery. Must do early to enjoy.

Great exercise and beautiful views

Beautiful area. Trail markings are not great. Would do it again with more time to explore a bit more. I wish it wasn't so unmarked/misleading as far as sign directions.

please note that this review is based on starting from the upper trailhead and hiking down two miles.

it is basically an old dirt road converted to a trail and winds through the relatively flat part of the Mesa. there are no views to speak of and if you go to miles, you can see Ute Canyon in the far distance but not awesome and not worth the hike.

hiking from the lower trailhead or hiking all the way down from the upper trailhead may afford a better hike.

Great hike, box like rock canyon at the end is shaded and cool after the hot hike. Definately bring some water!

Easy hike with beautiful views, have been hiking this trail for over 12 years, it never gets old. Try hiking it at sunrise, sunset and even at night with a full moon shining as your only light, you won't regret it. I've done this trail well over 200 times as I live a fairly close, that being said if you hike this in the summer you better get there no later than 6am or you will be roasting in the heat on the way back down, happy hiking !

really easy hike if u like the natural place and u take wheel chairs to the hike AND THE VIEW IS REALLY PRETTY
