Good for a mostly shaded walk. Lots of plants and birds

The trail is half on side walk and half on dirt with prairie dogs, crickets, beautiful yellow wild flowers, a nice view of the rockies, tons of cyclists, and gunfire from a nearby shooting range.

Made this into a short lollipop loop with the wetland trail. A bit buggy, but enough shade to make this doable on hot days.

This is BY FAR the BEST trail in Cherry Creek State Park in my humble opinion. It really gives you a great feel for the park by taking you right into the heart of it. I went counter clockwise on the loop. Single track through the woods with beautiful views of the local wildflowers. It gets even better when it goes right up next to the reservoir. There are quite a lot of bugs in this section so heads up. Also the map gets a little wonky here as well. The next section goes back and forth through the wetlands and next to the beach. Some of the trail is quite muddy and wet...especially right before it heads up to the sidewalk. Back up on the sidewalk for the Cherry Creek Trail it's not as fun as the first half but still very beautiful. Watch out for the cyclists and try not to let the sound of gunfire from the nearby shooting range bother you. Otherwise...awesome hike!!

I went counter clockwise on the loop. It's mostly sidewalk the whole way. It takes you way out by the front gate. I didn't really enjoy hiking next to the blvd. You get some nice views of the rockies and the reservoir. It started to get interesting when the path loops by the beach but it doesn't stay there long. Best for cycling. One and done.

This is just a little connector trail that links up other trails in the area.. It's a forest walk on a dirt path. The highlight is a little waterfall a few minutes in.

I love it one of my favorite park

The half of this trail that is by the actual reservoir is pretty sweet. Awesome spot to come chill with friends and family. The other half of this trail is actually out of the park and on sidewalk next to a busy highway. And there is also another portion through the wetlands area that is very beautiful...but ruined by the sound of gunfire from a nearby shooting range.

"Dogs are also available to use this trail" Your darn right because this is one of the greatest dog parks of all time!! Wow!! It is massive. It even has a creek that they can play in. Very impressive! As a hike..meh. Really great view of the mountains though.

Not many bugs out and very pretty views.

Good

Trail maintenance between the East Boat Ramp and Shop Creek Trailhead is now complete and that section of the trail is no longer closed. Indeed, it's a nice smooth section of concrete pavement which has replaced the broken up asphalt that was there before. Nice improvement!!!
