I love this hike. It is my go to hike(every birthday) when I am looking for a workout and few people, in the morning.

This trail is lovely and full of wildflowers. If you’re seeking more of a challenge you can venture onward to Timber Trail (just be cautious of mountain bikers). It wasn’t too heavily trafficked, probably depends on the day/time you decide to go. The weather was beautiful — no mud, ice or anything to be on the lookout for. Highly recommended!

Not sure why this marked as an easy hike. It is uphill all the way so I’d put it in the range of a moderate hike (it’s ranked as expert for mountain bikers and equestrians). Lots of mountain bikers to dodge and no cover for the majority of the hike. I’m not sure if the fire in 2012 opened this area up or if it’s truly a grassland to shrubland area before the forest? Bring extra water on a hot day, you’ll need it. Great views from the trail and wildflowers made it worth it. The little spur to the waterfall area from the parking lot is a nice area to cool down in. May be a better hike in cooler weather or not on a June weekend.

I really enjoyed this quick trail! My dog and I had a great time. Once you get into the trees, every corner is like looking at a magical path in a fairytale forest. I kept waiting for fairies to pop out. It’s a little late in the season for unicorns, though.

Tip: If you show up and the ranger station is closed, be sure to bring exact change. (1 car is $7)

Thanks to the person below who suggested bringing a hammock to hang out on top - I did and it was fantastic! Don't get caught up in the AllTrails rating, this hike is really not too difficult aside from a couple hundred feet up to the top. Lory State Park even rates it as moderate. The view from the top is stunning on both sides, and the wildflowers all the way up blew my mind - took timber trail to make a loop headed west and saw spotted coralroot orchids, irises, columbine, and more all along the backside of the hill. Gorgeous, peaceful hike, will definitely have to come back!

Spectacular today! The summit had the most splendid views. I am an average hiker and it was about 1-1.15hr to the top with a few rest stops. The trails are wonderfully maintained and trails are very clearly marked. Dogs on leashes and a couple of families but pretty quiet for a Colorado trail!

Incredible view at the top. Great place to bring a hammock and spend some time with a picnic. I definitely wouldn’t rate this as “Hard.” Short hike in and only a little steeper at the top switchbacks.

Great hike, lots of different view and little traffic. Will definitely do this again

Had so much fun! Not many people and challenging but not exhausting

Great hike! Went yesterday and its very muddy but still a great hike. Beautiful views from the top.

did this trail with the kids and they all made it. light scrambling towards the end with great views. would deff do this one again.

Went hiking with my two dogs and it was beautiful on top of Arthur’s Rock.

A great little more challenging hike for me who’s just started out. I went on up to Arthur’s rock on this trail.. everything was beautiful, so glad I went! & I only passed a few hikers along the way!

Nice trail. Half open space, half trees. Not too bad of a climb at the rock. Great views of Fort Collins and Horsetooth Reservoir.

Didn’t run into many people, just a few runners, bikers, and 2 horses/riders. Quiet, great views. Brought my dogs, will definitely be back!

A great quick workout with amazing views atop Arthur’s rock of Fort Collins, forests, and beyond. A beautiful open valley to start, forest hike detours, and many switch backs lead up to Arthur’s on the final ascent up.

Best hike near Fort Collins in terms of bang for your buck. The length and gain are perfect for a day hike and will challenge you without beating you down.

Starting exploring Foco nearby trails. Started at West Valley Trail and from there to Arthur's Rock Trail. I'd say easy to moderate, very busy families with small kids. The view from the top is great.

Good trail with great views of Horsetooth Res and Ft. Collins. Switchbacks were challenging but not overly difficult. Took Arthur’s Rock trail back. Loved the view at the summit of Arthur’s Rock. Go early. The later I gets the more the trail fills up.

on Timber Trail

Used part of Timber Trail as first leg of nice 4.6 mile loop. Turned left on Kimmons, right on West Valley, quick left onto Wells Gulch which connected to East Valley Trail back to Timber parking lot. Timber Trail section is not steep, but almost every step is uphill... the rest of the hike was easy.

First two miles are the most challenging. Settles after that with a few small sections with some elevation gains. Included Westridge Trail and part of Timber Trail to get a few more miles and a bit more elevation and created a 7.6 mile lollipop loop. Cold, cloudy, and fog at the start, but once above that you get the views the area is known for. Great hike.

Great hike! Awesome views at the top. I would not say this is difficult, more moderate. We saw lots of kids. No ice up there today!!

Hiked this trail today. No ice and the trail is very well groomed and marked. Went early in the morning. Saw deer and a few other hikers. The view at the top is so amazing. Good cardio workout! Please note that the trailhead is at the end of the gravel road into the park. Also, bring $7 per car. Had to do self-pay as there was no one around.

Easy but beautiful! Not a lot of shade. Can access the reservoir from part of the East trail.

I wouldn't call this hike hard, I would call it moderate. the views at the top are incredible. Burned about 700 calories at an average heart rate of 126. No ice at all, just a little muddy. March 24th.

Did this hike yesterday 3/17 early morning. No ice issues to report. It’s an amazing hike that gets your heart rate up for sure! The view at the top is %100 worth it! It says hard, but I wouldn’t go that far, though there are some steep spots.

Amazing hike on a usual day.
However hiked yesterday 3/4 and the lower portion of the trail (about half mile) is a complete sheet of ice. Very dangerous to hike if you don't have trackers. Saw many people fall hard, a majority turned around before it got too bad. Stay safe spring hikers!

There were some sketchy parts of the trail yesterday, but I was able to make it in running shoes. Totally worth it once you got up to the top.

So much fun! Great views and bouldering.
