Great area for all skill levels. We took TH and cut over to Dowdy Lake, caught Frog Pond Trl to Mt Margaret. Scrambled to top after reaching trail ends sign. Great views. Took Margaret Mtn back for a little over 9 miles total. You can easily lessen miles or add as most of the spurs loop back to Margaret Mtn trail.

Easy trail through Ponderosa Pine savannas. Fun scramble to the top of Mount Margaret. Beautiful views on top! Definitely helped to use my gps track to retrace our path from top back down to trail.

Lots of dirtbikes on the weekend. Didnt hike the whole trail, because i had my daughter and her friend. Ill be back to do it on my own!! Great views and scenery!! To all my fellow hikers, dont forget pack it in, pack it out. sad how much trash is in the clearings.

I hiked in late spring and the falls were not disappointing at all. They were roaring and much bigger than expected. I went again in the summer they were dried up and a little disappointing. Either way the hike is still worth it. I also saw a bull moose on the way down to the falls.

There is a bull moose that was in the exact same place on my way up and down the trail. He’s about 10 yards off to the right side of the trail on the way up. He’s about a 1/2 mile before the second road crossing. He never got irritated but he was aware myself and my dog were nearby. Please remember it’s always a good idea to put your dogs on a leash around a bull moose (or any moose) and give them a ton of space.

Did this trail 8/23. Started at TH and took first left cut off to Dowdy Lake. Walked around the lake and back to Mt. Margaret and got in a little over 7 miles Great overcast day with a gentle breeze. Mostly level with some climbing back to TH but nothing hard.

great trail with good views!! the falls are a little disappointing though, as the name suggests.

backpacking

We had a great time backpacking this trail. We used a couple of trekking llamas and went into one of the dispersed campsites. The campsites are great and have a fire pit, bench, and plenty of shade. The trail is multi-use for hikers, bikers, horses and livestock. I highly suggest this trail!

Wasn't easily marked after first intersection. you have to take a left Granite trail for quarter of a mile to pick up Lady moon trail again.

Good walk for Kids!

Beautiful Hike, didn't see any water but heard some. We lost gps signal toward end of hike so we ended up overshooting the peak by quite a bit. There was no well travelled trail from meadow to actual peak, so that's why we kept going. Beware of that and enjoy! Some Mosquitos but not horrible.

I would recommend this trail for an easy walk for all ages. Beautiful wildflowers, aspen groves, meadows. We ended up doing the entire length of Margaret trail which I would not recommend. We got to the end and it was just a sign that said trail ends here. We ended up cutting over to some boulders to sit but we laughed about the trail ending the way it did. On the way back we ended up cutting up Frog Pond to Dowdy and those trails take you through a beautiful meadow and to lake dowdy. From there you can get back on Mount Margaret to finish. It was 8.3 miles total for us. I would highly recommend taking Mount Margaret up to Frog Pond, to Dowdy, and then looping back to Margaret. If we did it again that’s what we would do. We started our hike around 7:45am and ended at 11. We only saw one other person heading in. On the way back we saw a handful of people just getting started. Not a crowded trail at all which is great. Only other thing that threw us off. You have to go through a few gates and it must be private owned by a farmer. There were tons of cows along the trail which meant tons of there poop everywhere. Our dog got a little worked up by them as well and wouldn’t relax for about a mile of the trail.

It was a beautiful hike. I would not list it as easy. It was a lot of uphill at steep grade and Rocky in many spots.

Trail is wide open with no shade. Took spur to elk horn creek. It was an open cow pasture.

Lady moon lake attempt, gorgeous but not well marked. We weren’t able to find the falls of the lake

nice flat trail. lots of wildflowers. went at 915 am on Saturday plenty of spaces to park. we saw not a lot of people. a few mountain bikers, 2 ladies walking their llamas and 4 horses. the end of trail had some great rocks to go climbing around on. there are several shady spots along the trail. this would be a great trail for those who are beginner hikers

Saw lots of horses on this trail. Pretty wildflowers and boulders

well travelled path and not alot ofnpeople. a chance to enjoy nature without alot of people disturbing surroundings

We started about 8:30 and finished about 12. We took a lunch break and stopped for photos a few times. The falls sort of lived up the its name. Nothing spectacular, although I bet it’s beautiful in the winter. The trail has some nice shade with tons of aspens and the meadows are full of wild flowers right now. Unfortunately, I’m only giving it 3 stars as the trails weren’t clearly marked and sort of confusing although we did make it to the falls. The trail also has a lot of cow patties currently and with the somewhat muddy conditions, it’s drawing in a lot of bugs. My legs got bit quite a bit. I’m not sure why some reviews say it’s not steep, we made a little detour and ventured on a side trail and it was very steep. Also the trail is mostly downhill on the way in and uphill on the way out.
