Second time on this trail after getting no view the first time. Totally worth redoing. The trail is hard and hot (gets cooler as you get higher). Flies at the top are horrible even with bug spray. We lasted maybe ten minutes because we were getting attacked. That said it was worth the view. Go early in the morning to beat the heat and bring tons of water.

never go there if its wet or rainy

Great views from the top. Flat most of the way and then a steep incline to the top of Green Mountain. Easy to navigate and not that hard with a few water breaks.

View at the top was better than I was expecting. Great hike - the climb to the top is a little strenuous but the rocks/steps are very easy to navigate

Went to Bear Peak before coming here. The climb to the peak isn't hard, but the flies at the peak are annoying.

My girlfriend usually takes about 200 pictures per hike. This hike she took at least 500. Great views.

Great views. Steep hike. Lots of people on a beautiful day. Landed in the morning from the east coast and jumped on this trail right away. Due to the elevation gain, we got tired very quickly. Drank lots of water. Fantastic day to start our vacation.

Beautiful with tons of wild flowers. Nice rock benches a little past the end. Sick cloud watching spot.

Don't let the wild flowers fool you, this beautiful hike is steep and long. One of my favorites! Great on Thursday with few people.dont forget it's $5 for parking

Pretty hard trail but not too bad! Path can be unclear at times as you have to actually climb over some rocks but it's a beautiful scene once at the top! The trip down is quick and easy which makes the hard trip up not so bad!

Pretty good hike overall. Flat and then incline to the top of Green.

05/19--Did this trail after the 1st and 2nd Flatirons hike. Being from flat land made this pretty challenging and the weather didn't help. However, the feeling of looking up and seeing the arch was so worth it. Amazing views at the top.

Loved this hike! It’s pretty steep but the view is amazing

Hiked with the doggo on 5/22/18 - started at about 9:15 and was at the summit by 9:50 including taking a couple viewpoint breaks, didn’t see anyone going up but started to get busy on the way down. Some small uphill bursts throughout and then gets decently steep at the very end - definitely had me panting and grumbling to myself but then the view is awesome at the top. My dog (80lb) had a blast. Lots of shade, VERY green after all the rain, no ice, and pretty wildflowers! Beautiful way to spend a morning.

This hike is moderate to hard as it’s uphill the whole time but is short in distance! The views at the top are totally worth it. Some steep parts make it a little tricky for my dog but she made it. Love doing this hike and running the road part back down (about 2/3 of the way back down)!

opening screen says trail is moderate, but then once inside the specific trail it says hard(which is way more accurate). But that being said, absolutely gorgeous hike! the view is absolutely stunning!

Awesome hike with the pup!

Cute hike! Last bit gets your heart pumping. Love the view of Boulder.

Hiked this on 5/8/18 it was amazing! The weather was great and the views perfect

This was our first hike since moving to Colorado, and we LOVED it! Definitely has some trickier parts, with climbing up rocks, but it was a really fun, rewarding hike. It was foggy when we did it, so we didn’t get to see the view from the top, but we’re definitely going to make this hike again.

Great hike! Got there at 7 in the morning and barely found a parking spot. Which had me worried but the traffic on the hike was non existent at this time. I didn’t notice many people until I was done at 10. I feel the difficulty is rated a little high on this. Nice steady incline with a couple spots to recover on the way up and along with that it’s well covered with shade. The hike offers a lot more than just the arch to enjoy. A must do hike if you ask me!!!

Overall this was a good workout, trail is well marked, and you get a pretty good view for being so close to the city. Some parts are a little difficult for a four legged friend; however, there is a lot of shade which was nice. There is also some water throughout to help keep the pups cool. From the parking lot with the ranger station if you follow chautauqua trail it’s a 4 mile hike total. I hiked this Tuesday morning and started before 8am, the later it got the more crowded it became

I did this hike on my own, on May 4th, it was a gorgeous day, it was a little hot and the trail is quite strenuous so make sure to bring a lot of water. South Boulder Peak is accessed from the Shadow Canyon Trail, which can be difficult to find. Start on the Mesa Trail, which is just a fireroad, follow it for about a mile, mile and a half until you come to fork (there should be a trail marker) be sure to take the left fork towards Shadow Canyon otherwise you'll ended up just continuing on the Mesa Trail. Once you're in the Canyon, the trail gets steep, rocky and strenuous. Be careful on some of the larger boulders because they can be quite slippery due to wear from people hiking on them. The trail through the canyon is beautiful, it's shaded almost all day so you'll get a reprieve from the sun although it can get a bit chilly if there's wind. Once you get out of the canyon you'll find yourself in the saddle between Bear Peak to your right, and South Boulder to your left, from there it's about 600m to the top. The view from the top is gorgeous! To the east you look out over parts of Boulder and Highway 93; and to the west you look out over a valley onto Nederland and Eldora Ski Area, and onto the Continental Divide and Longs Peak; it's a very cathartic experience, especially being alone there. The view is incredible and totally worth it. Try and go on weekday, if you can it can get busy in the weekends, I had the whole trail and summit to myself it was wonderful.

Super fun on the way up with some difficulty but the view is very much worth it! The way back down is super fast too

Perfect hike to get views quick. Stair-master-like trip up and quick trip down.
