Love taking out-of-towners here. It's a gorgeous spot that always wows and I never get tired of seeing it! Parking can be packed and you have to pay, but it's worth it.

We loved this hike! The views of the lake at the top are so worth it.

For those looking for trail conditions, on 5/26, the majority of the trail was still covered with snow, but we weren’t falling through often, and Heart Lake was frozen over. We did this with gaiters and were ok.

Nice hike up to alpine lakes. Wildflowers on the way. Several snowfields to cross with some post-holing.

loved it! Did it by myself and again with my 10 year old (August 2017). Perfect place to bring a picnic and enjoy a fabulous time.

Most of the trails were snow packed. Lots of slipping and falling on the way back down as the snow had softened. Would love to try this again when the area had time to green up and all of the snow melt.

Was so excited to do this trail, but the road to the trailhead is NOT open until June. However you can hike up to it - but it's 5 miles!
Also if you plan on going around this area take a 4 wheel drive vehicle with a higher suspension!
I am so so excited to do this trail later on in the year since I've heard so many good things about it!

LOTS OF SNOW FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Plan accordingly if you plan to camp.

Did this hike on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday 5/26. The views from the top and the alpine lake are spectacular! However, at the moment, the trail conditions are pretty miserable - lots of mud and lots of soft snow. The second half on the way is quite steep and the final push to Lower Mohawk Lake was a snow covered mess. BUT the lake is unfrozen and really beautiful. So again, tough as the conditions are, it’s definitely worth it. This seems like it would be a great summer hike.

absolutely beautiful! no snow
left anywhere!

Great hike. I echo what’s been said before that the south end half of the loop is beautiful and the northern half is just a off road vehicle road. Just do the down and back on the southern half.

Awesome hike. Some snow but mostly on the edges of the trail - very avoidable.

Some snow remains on parts of the trail. Start early when snow is still frozen otherwise you’re going to be slipping and sliding in slush.

Amazing! The waterfall was beautiful. No boots needed. Went today and there was a lot of shade from the hot sun.

This trail has some great views. The beginning of the trail is extremely challenging. I would not recommend it for inexperienced hikers. I was not acclimated to the Colorado altitude when I hiked this trail which made it very difficult for me at times. The beginning of the trail during the switchbacks are difficult, but it does start to get easier.

Tried to do this hike today 5/26/18 but was turned back due to potholing in the snow. Ended up doing crater lake instead. Beatiful area and will go back in another month or so to see heart lake once more snow has melted.

Hiked this trail over Memorial Day Weekend and it was a great hike. The distance wasn't terrible, got a good sweat, and the end was rewarding as well. The directions on this hike get you right there. Still parts where there was snow, but it wasn't an issue. The only other comment i have is its easy to miss the actual start of the trail head because when you arrive there is a large opening with a dirt road where the trail map sign is at. I assumed this is where it starts. The trailhead is actually on the left, but the road that is by the trail sign will get you to the same spots, its just a different route and not an actual trail. Overall, recommendable hike

I actually really liked this hike. I didn’t go all the way to the falls cause my dog was donee. Lots of people there today but everyone was super friendly and respectful.

Do the loop and start to the right when driving into the parking lot. A lovely trail, but have to watch the occasional forks that are unmarked.

Was closed to vehicles today.

Is it acceptable to go for a swim to cool down during the hike in the lake?

Wonderful short day hike from Denver! The views are epic, our Colorado mountainside so green right now. Prefect for all ages, skills. You will not find more breathtaking 360 views of the Rockies.!!

Great hike for a leisurely walk. Not a lot of elevation gain but enough to make you breathe a little harder. The area down around the water is really pretty. Dogs not allowed in. I saw some people with horses this day. Looked fun! 4/28/18

Just did Cupid for a short and fun hike. almost summer like conditions. Trail up was dry with light patches of snow. I would recommend bringing warm gear as the weather changes frequently. A small snow storm hit us, but it was done in 20 minutes. No traction needed.

Pretty and very full of snow right now 5/25. I should’ve brought snowshoes! Ended up being 6 miles because our car wouldn’t make it up the dirt road (0.5 mile).

Beautiful hike but difficult to figure out the trails/loop. Ended up hiking to the wrong parking lot and had to go all the way back.

Definitely recommend snow shoes. Just hit this trail yesterday and in some parts, the snow was up to our knees. Great starter trail for a hiking newbie like myself. Not terribly scenic, but still beautiful this time of year with all the snow.

Trail closed until June 15th

Fairly approachable hike for all abilities. The views are okay and maybe impressive for newbies or short term visitors who don't have too much time to stay.

Amazing view at top, 360 degree view, good workout and beautiful drive, I highly recommend this trail, it’s a great mini prep for a 14er
