Obnoxious large groups of horse riders spoil the trail for everyone

Beautiful redwoods! Beware the horse poop.

Some of the redwoods were nice but there wasn’t much in the way of views. For a 20+ mile hike, it was rather monotonous.

Fairly easy trail with clean toilet facilities. the only moderate part of the trail was at the first leg of the hike for about half a mile.

The trails are heavily trafficked but feature good paths among redwoods and a large meadow. Views are mostly limited. Enjoyable and there are many opportunities to tailor the route to your liking.

I agree this is a nice walk and at a moderate level EXCEPT for about 1/4 mile which is really steep. Parking much better on Woodside road side when compared with starting from the skyline side.

First half is uphill but very doable. Beautiful views and redwoods. I would rate this easy not moderate, as it is only 2 miles gentle up and remainder down.

Bottom loop still closed but did nice 6 mike hike around too loop with a stop for lunch at Alice’s Restaurant!

Love this trail, traffic isn’t too bad getting there via Woodside Rd.

About 2.5 miles in, there is currently a trail detour that is very steep. This part of the trail is collapsed in some areas, and there’s a few fallen trees—don’t go this way.

Half is a steep incline up hill, and other half is all downhill. Mostly shaded in the forest surrounded by beautiful red wood trees. Breathtaking views at the peak. There's an option to go horseback riding on this trail.

Great trail. As others may find, it’s a horse OK trail so there’s a fair amount of horse waste.

Nice

It was a fun trail! Lots of great scenery especially at the top. I would recommend it to anyone who likes lots of trees and beautiful views.

Great trail among the trees! Will definitely come back and try the other trails!

Nicely kept trail, but lots of horsepoo. Shady most of the way and a pretty gentle uphill. A couple cool view points and some great trees/nature.

Beautiful redwood hike minutes from Palo Alto.

If you hit it at salamander mating season, get ready for a thrill.

Nice little trail, easy quick hike. Good for a trail run since the incline is minimal. Tons of horse poo along the trail

I did this on a Saturday and saw one person the entire trip- I love when the trail is completely bare and I can be in nature. Nice and quiet with a slight decline during the Alambique and then a slight steady incline through Skyline. Perfect 4.5 to stretch the body out.

slow steady incline / not crowded / beautiful redwoods

Wouldn't hike it again, but maybe it was just a bad time of year- there were so many flies! It was a really easy hike, during blackberry season I could see it being a wonderful hike. Mostly shaded, but once you get to the meadow it's open space, the view point is a bit disappointing but for the area it was expected(dry). The salamander pond has some serious eutrophication going on and is fenced in for good reason. The foliage makes the hike worth it and I went in June, and there were perhaps hundreds of lizards that crisscross the trail as you're hiking (it's entertaining).

Really nice short hike - Easy to find, lots of parking, nice work out going up and great views at the top. A little crowded for my taste but one of my favorite P'sula hikes

The Alambique trail heading towards the creek from the crossroads is closed, so doing the figure 8 is not possible (as of 06/03).

You're not allowed to mountain bike on this trail. Do NOT start from Woodside and expect to ride up and then back down. That being said, if you do decide to mountain bike this track, it's a nice ride. Coming back up on Alambique isn't difficult.

Easy to find, park, hike and navigate throughout the hike. Great view at the top of the hike and a nice gradual incline and decline which makes it family friendly... just watch out for horse poops along the trail!

Very pretty trail with few people. Amazing and unusual Dome spiders! Also saw lots of birds, squirrels and deer. We wanted to add the skyline trail loop but it was closed due to avalanche/soil erosion. Really nice park with beautiful horse stables and museum near the parking lot.

A great circuit through oak, eucalyptus redwoods and open meadows. nothing to steep up on the counterclockwise loop.

Just have this trail today. Love the trees. Very comfortable to walk in the Forest! Elevation is nice! The only thing you need to take care is poops of the lovely horses.

Love the trees. Nice elevation, not too hard.
