Good trail for bike, but a bit boring for hike.

4 stars for the beauty, but basically thIs could be ridden on a tricycle. You can find some to make it a little more challenging if you look for them.

I would like to recommend to those looking for kids friendly trail. I took us 4.5 hours due to a stop in a nice beach on the route. Kids loved and we're so busy playing with waves and all the gifts the beach may give. We, pearents, had some quality time also. So it's not about hiking only, that is great for families, but more than it.

Please be aware that this entire trail system is primarily used by mountain bikers. I saw at least 100 bikers and only 3 other hikers. A lot of it is single track as well, so yarn constantly having to get out of the way of the bikes. Would highly recommend for mtn biking, but not hiking.

Coastal half was the best. Beautiful views.

The Fern Grotto was amazing and got to watch seals play in their very own water park right after the Fern Grotto Beach! So fun watching the seals!

Love this trail! I’ve done it many times- running, hiking, walking with my mother. It’s great for all ages and skill levels! Mostly flat, gorgeous views almost the whole way, no shade though! You walk along a dirt trail the whole way, it’s a little rocky/uneven on the first part and then at the end you walk through some private property. Amazing and will always recommend!

The beach views and bluffs along the bay and ocean were spectacular. Easy walk, not really a hike, along wide trail on sand. Highly recommend making the jaunt down to Fern Grotto Beach. We laid on the beach for about 30 minutes and watched the waves roll in on the secluded piece of the coast. Bring a towel and a snack to enjoy.

Great short hike, wide mostly flat trails shared with bikes. Fern Grotto Beach was a short climb down but cool spot to see the seals playing in the water and check out the tide pools.

Beautiful redwoods.

Extended it a bit. No issues with overgrowth.

Beautiful with marine layer. Overlooking bluffs, pelicans on beach, and seals on rocks. Took our Cub Scout pack, everyone enjoyed the trail. We are aged from 5-38. $10 to park.

Terrible for a hiker. Way too many bikes. Will not return without a bike

Walked up to Strawberry Beach , overlook trail over grown along with bath to Strawberry Beach.

great trail, recommended to get there in the morning before it's too hot and to bring a jacket for the windy part. you can also bring beach towel for sun bading after 12pm

Such different scenery throughout the hike- very peaceful and not crowded at all (I did go on the 4th though). Not smooth ground surface, was a mix of hard rocks, sand and dirt so definitely a workout. I started counter clockwise and would recommend it. Really pretty- lots of butterflies and some cool views. It was 8.5 miles though and not the 7 this states.

BIG MISTAKE NOT READING THE REVIEWS PRIOR TO THIS TRAIL. there are in deed a ton of ticks and i made the big mistake of wearing shorts and a tank top. like the reviews before it it’s the first mile that’s like this: over grown with tons of nettle and ticks! do not bring your dogs, do not bring your kids. the loop portion of the trail was quite nice but i saw random bare human foot prints so idk what was goin on there. bugs or not, this was a hike that i wanted to end a mile in...
