I feel this trail is a bit more challenging than moderate but the trail is well maintained. It was also closer the 3.5 miles round trip. The entire trail is beautiful but the real beauty starts about the last 1/2 mile or so when all of the waterfalls start getting bigger until you reach the large waterfall at the end. So worth the hike!

Easy Little hike up! Great for dogs and humans alike!

Excellent hike! Definitely not moderate if you’re not in shape (Was with people who aren’t in the greatest shape and they made it about halfway). Also, it’s more like a 3.5-4 mile hike. I’d say it would be more of a harder hike due to the steep inclines. Some areas are wet so I’d be careful it might be a little slippery. It’s dog friendly! Absolutely beautiful views! Stunning waterfall and we’d definitely do this hike again! Well worth the hike!!

Great hike overall. Finding the top of Mule Mountain can prove somewhat difficult, as there are a number of branching points along the trail. Solid view of Whiskey Town from the top. (Hiked January 2017)

Beautiful trail, pretty shaded. The fall is absolutely gorgeous, hiking to the falls is almost uphill the entire way but the trail is well maintained with resting benches if needed. Took my dog and she did great :)

Awesome! We started at the trailhead by the sign. The first third of the trail was kinda blah, goes right next to a paved road on several sections. But once you hit the old mine (fenced off and apparently filled in) the scenery gets beautiful and you follow several different creeks and hit a few waterfalls (at least in March). The last third has you gaining elevation and skirting around some peaks, and winding back down to the parking lot. We ran into one other hiker and 2 mountain bikers during our couple hours there.

The trail is smooth and well maintained. It was chilly but protected from the wind. It was absolutely gorgeous and we’ll certainly do it again! BTW it’s pretty much all uphill on the way in. But we did the 1.5 miles in 33 minutes with plenty of stops for pictures :)

Great trail. Slow moving creek. Had the trail to myself.

Excellent trail, a few challenging hills, and great waterfall at the end. Well maintained. Took a 2-year-old in a stroller, there are a few spots where that becomes difficult, but nothing impossible.

According to the sign at the trailhead, this trail is closer to 3.5 miles, but it’s worth it! We went on a Sunday morning and the trail was deserted. Well maintained, well marked, and beautiful the whole way

Great hike! Several offshoot trails along the way. Hiked a roundtrip of 10 miles-was fantastic with great views!

Great hike, stunning falls!

This place is magical!

beautiful right now! green and gorgeous. Wasnt too difficult except for a couple uphill stretches. (I am not in the best shape right now haha) But it was relatively easy.

Beautiful trail- felt a bit strenuous, but I’m also 8months pregnant. Beautiful creek, mines, and vista views!

Just Beautiful. While it is rated moderate - I would say moderate for those that hike regularly- but can be challenging if you’re not in shape there are several inclines that are steep - but I would not say hard or difficult. It was well worth the hike in and back during the fall cooler temps was refreshing. It is a workout for sure. Took tons of pictures and video of the sites. Just gorgeous.

Another beautiful whiskeytown waterfall! Well kept trail, a little slippery in spots, but a great hike with an amazing payoff at the end.

Beautiful trail, just lots and lots of poison oak. The mosquito's were pretty bad at this time as well.

An awesome trail with some cool views and interesting history. We walked the trail backwards (clockwise) with our 2 dogs. A steep climb to start off and gradual elevation changes until the end. The old gold mine close to halfway through provided a nice place to have a snack and read about its history.

Recommended by a family we met hiking yesterday. What a fun challenging three miles for me and Murphy and Billy.
No water this time of year (end of summer) so that's a bummer for the dogs but I'm sure it will be great when there's some water running through. Lots of rocks on the Orfino Gulch section but nothing dangerous, just wear good shoes. #tenlegstosunset

We did this on a very hot day, 95+ degrees. We were thankful for lots of shade. The trail runs along a creek, with several spots where you can stop and splash water on your head (or on your dog). When you get to the top, there's an easy place to go wade in the VERY cold water at the base of the falls. We saw one guy strip down to his bathing suit and take a dip... brrr! Overall, nice scenic short hike. Limited cell reception.

Fun nice hike! Mostly uphill and beautiful. 2nd hike up and enjoyed it as much as 1st.

great short hike for all

It's a good hike.

Lots of ups, but nothing too difficult. There are lots of rest benches if needed. Dog friendly and a beautiful waterfall at the end. You need to climb the trail directly to the right of it to see the whole thing because it is massive.

Nice quick trail run.

Lovely trails, with plenty of blackberries at the trail head and along the way to snack on. It was middle of summer, so no waterfalls or creek flows for me, but beautiful trees and views of Shasta Bally and the other mountains. At one point you can see clear down towards Igo and Gas Point!
