Great trail, easy to find and beautifuil setting! Only con is that it's close to the highway so you can hear the traffic going by in a few spots other then that I loved it, the lake is very peaceful and I loved all the beautiful tress

You can’t go wrong with a trip here. Fun to get too from both trails.

Do this hike in the summer then come back and do it in the winter, it’s so amazing to see the change in the terrain. Such an amazing hike I recommend it to everyone

Nice hike with a mild gradient. The middle section is pretty exposed so in summer it could get hot, but it was great in January. A few waterfalls on the way down. There are a couple narrow sections with drop-offs but nothing too difficult. The trail leads on past the banks if you follow the GPS track and scramble back up the hill about 10-15feet, but the trail is partially washed out, I'd recommend going as far as you'd like along the rocks then turning around

A lot of wildflowers during May

Also went parallel with the plan to catch the actual trail on the way down, but couldn’t get to the Peak with the snow. Snowshoes helped but in certain areas, especially getting up to the Peak, yaktrax or some kind of spikes would be most helpful. The views from the Ridge were amazing none the less.

A bit muddy since there has been no snow and it’s been warm. Pretty creek.

What a wonderful view! My wife and I did this day hike back in the early 1990’s and it was definitely worth it. Lots of wildflowers and bees....would recommend bringing 2 liters of water because there are no real sources to get water up there. The final section to top is completely exposed. The push up to the very top uses a staircase that leads directly to fire lookout. The stairs have an open view below....(not for people afraid of heights). There was a fire burning that day over by Truckee, but far enough away to not abstract our view. It turned out to be a pretty big fire and burned through the entire corridor around int. 80.

Great autumn hike up to the lake. We did this in September. From the lake to the top is mostly boring but steep fire roads. We ended up hiking down the ski slopes.

Fairly easy trail when dry. Views are absolutely stunning. Great family fun. View from Lookout Point is breathtaking. Would definitely go again. Loved it.

Snoweshoed up to the peak on 1/11/18. We didn’t travel on this trail directly, instead we went parallel to it and then came back on the opposite side, making it a loop. Most of the trail was pretty easy with snowshoes, with the exception of the top, where you really had to dig your crampons in to get yourself up the final stretch. The top was stunning and we even watched a snowing cloud moving in towards us. The effort was worth it!

Great hike! This area is beautiful

Great hike down to North Fork of the American River! All the water crossings were flowing very well from the last 2 days of rain! Beautiful waterfalls all the way down.

Nice hike. Some of the trail could be marked a little clearer. This one had enjoyable views and the dog enjoyed the water. The drive up to the trailhead is steep so drive slow!

Awesome hike. I'm not so sure about the hard difficulty - definitely moderate, but not hard. The way out is pretty chill and you don't notice much for a change in slope until you come back (the downhill on the way out is gradual and can give some nice cardio on the way back). Careful of the oak in the beginning of the hike. Definitely dog friendly, but no trash can was available at the trailhead for poop

This is a great trail if you’re looking for something easy. If you want something that is more strenuous, look elsewhere. It’s far enough back that you get the sense of seclusion minus a few cars that pass by on the road. It seems the trail has been completed a bit since this trail was entered in AllTrails. It goes further now that what the map shows. I believe you can actually go to Highway 89 and then on the Prosser. We turned back because we were done battling the ice.

There is some ice at first and deeper snow as you climb, but the views are great! If you stick the to gps you can stay on he trail up and back. The trail gets creative with the snow cover.

This trail was amazing! It was beautiful and full of beautiful sights. However, I would not call it moderate, more of a Hard level.

Almost missed the trailhead as its named something else, a connector (I'll post the picture). heads up pretty quick and it's like a rocky dry creek bed the bends around through the trendline until it breaks out along the ridge. amazing views!! gets pretty steep toward the end of the Sardine Lakes section. But the views.......

Always a great hike. Versatile in views, free parking, plenty of boulders to climb etc. I would describe this hike a year rounder.. all seasons welcomed. The way down is a cake walk and the way up is great for cardio.
