Great all-around, easy trail that provides easy access to services should the need arise.

Wonderful morning workout in peaceful surroundings.

Nice somewhat busy but wide trail that ends with a nice view. The highway below was not problematic to me at all and street parking was easy to find on a weekend afternoon.

Suround sound from the highway below takes the charm away.

Lots of car noise from the freeway, exposed the entire time. Beautiful chain link fence with barbed wire along most of trail. Won’t do again

Dry & dusty, lots of bugs.

Did this in early October. Trail was Very dry & dusty, lots of bugs. The good part is that it's close to town and very easily accessible.

Reaches reservoir with wonderful views.

on Flume Trail

Took Jones trail to Flume trail and I did not once come across a river like the pictures someone posted. It was dry and pretty much the exact same as Jones trail, except Flume is right next to highway 17, so you don't feel like you've really gotten away from the rush of city life because you can hear the cars whizzing by.

on Jones Trail

It was fairly steep up hill for the majority of the hike, I went up Jones trail to Flume trail and all the way up to the Monte Vista Hill view point. Which, really isn't much of a view point unless you enjoy a view of the city. There were many manzanita bushes, and there are plants that seed in pods and it was so hot that you could hear them popping open! That was definitely an interesting thing to hear while hiking, there are golden poppies and some little purple flowers along the trail but mostly it's just manzanita bushes.

Short ~3mi hike. Moderately steep- so great for weekend 50min fitness while getting sun hiking wearing shorts and tank top.

Good for flat runs, though not much shade on hit days!

Nice little hike. A good climb, hard enough to be a good workout but not so hard that you feel like your dying. We went on a cold morning which was perfect for the big climb. A little noisy at the beginning. Really nice view at the top if you detour off of Jones trail up to the top of the hill.

I love hiking and I love challenges but man this one pushed me. It was about 99* this day and we each had 2 liters of water. It's a very steep hill almost a fire trail road. We didn't have enough water for the walk back up. We made it to the top and just laid on the trunk of the car because that was shaded.
At the bottom was a beautiful river. Too strong of a current to swim in but we waded. There was a rafting company running the river so added bonus. I would suggest packing snacks for a picnic at the bottom. The walk up seriously was killer.

This is a very nice and pretty trail. It's an easy walk/hike and yet gets your heart rate up in some areas. There are few spots with a nice view. It's very close to downtown LG which makes it very convenient.

Short but great hike. Steady incline in the beginning and end. Half shaded half sunny.

late afternoon around 5 pm was mostly shaded. sounds of the rushing water was very pleasant in Los Gatos creek. unfortunately, noise from adjacent highway 17 can be heard for much of the trail.

Pros: A pretty decent amount of shade, and a good offshoot option to add to the hike. It's also nice and accessible within the area where I live, so I do this one about once a week if I can't try someplace new. If you start by going up the hill, there's actually a good amount of flat, slight incline, and steep incline. It also allows dogs (leashed) so it's fun to see their happy, derpy faces while you're sweatin'.

Cons: It is very heavily trafficked. Probably because it's in the heart of Los Gatos. Everyone is pretty friendly and are generally aware of their surroundings though.

This is a great exercise hike! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because you see and hear cars on 17 too much in the beginning and end of the trail. But once you're far enough away from the sound, it's a peaceful, enjoyable experience.
