Long sandy beaches below rugged headlands, a craggy coastline with natural arches and secluded coves are features that make Sonoma Coast State Park one of California's most scenic attractions. The Beach, actually a series of beaches separated by rock bluffs and headlands, extends 17 miles from Bodega Head to Vista Trail located 4 miles north of Jenner. Beachcombers, fishermen, sunbathers and picnickers can access the beach from more than a dozen points along coast Highway 1. While the north coast weather can be foggy in the summer, it usually burns off by midday and the cool ocean breezes make the Sonoma Coast a haven for visitors seeking to escape the inland heat.

Red Hill trail is dry and has wild flowers.

This is a beautiful hike. The uphill segments are gradual, and there is a nice balance between exposed and shaded sections of the trail. Rolling hills, Redwoods, and Pacific views. What more could you want? Highly recommend.

Wet & Muddy. Hiking boots or wellies recommended.

Bring water and pack a lunch. Beautiful moderate hike where you’re in the forest then you climb up and see the Pacific Ocean.

great 2 1/2 hour hike at reasonable pace. hike towards Pomo Canyou first then Redhill for loop.

Fun for the whole family top trail was dry but bottom was muddy

Good trail the hike up was very steep but fun

Great trail. Not hard. Good views.

Lovely walk along the ocean with multiple side paths leading to the cliff edge for better views. We parked at Shell Beach and headed north, turning around just past the cool rockpile before you start climbing. Be warned, this trail has lots of puddles after it rains, waterproof boots are advised. Would have gone all the way to Goat Rock but rain came in and cut our hike short.

Because of the heavy rain in recent weeks it is a little muddy going up to red hill via Pomo Canyon trail, but on a bike it’s easy to avoid. I would recommend this loop to any hiker or mountain biker who loves to be challenged without it being so difficult that it takes the fun out of it. Amazing 360 degree views of the coast and the forests behind you from the top of red hill.

Lovely trail. It’s not too difficult. The views to ocean are sweeping. Can get pretty muddy on inner trail up during rainy season.

Rolling trail with spectacular views. Windy from off shore breezes. Nice way to spend the 90 minutes before the sunset.

Great views. Just hard enough to make you feel like you have had a good hike.

Super easy and really fun.

Majestic views!

Pomo Canyon part is very muddy right now! Still a great hike.

one of my beach favorites

Beautiful hike! Make sure to do the little steep out and back section to the campgrounds. It was very lush and green with all the fern.

Great views from atop Redhill, but we did miss the right hand turn and walked through the forest then looped back around to find our error. No signs, just a small Cairn. The best views are stop Redhill. We then continued on to Pomo and the small campgrounds. Turned back and did the bottom loop which doesn’t have the views like the top section. 12 kms all up, from Shell Beach Trail head. It’s a good work out too.

Walked from Bodega RV Park and back along the road into town and back to our RV park- 18 kms all up. Many deer and bigger bucks in the dunes. We did lose our way at the 2/3 point in but recovers across country. Thanks to the app.
It’s probably 3 miles of sand dunes. Great exercise. Spectacular views at the headland. And facilities available there too. A nice walk !

We loved this hike! Caught a beautiful hot day out in Bodega and started at Wright’s beach and went all the way out to Goat Rock & back. We went a slower pace and stopped at a couple beaches, checked out the tide pools. About 4.2 hours- walking with a recovering ACL. Stopped to take many scenic pictures as well. Stopped on the way out at the Fishetarian for the best clam chowder in Bodega Bay. They have great waterfront picnic tables.

Great there and back trail. Take the side trail down to the beach.

Beautiful views. Love the foggy view and all the birds around!
The beaches is considered very dangerous in this area. Be careful!

nice easy trail with great views. . .

Did not walk the cliff, but went to the tide pools. Overlook is very close. Great place to fly a kite. Plenty of parking.
