Red Hill is the tougher trail! We took a pup and she dis great for the full 7 mi. We parked at the camp ground and started there but realized most people park at Shell Beach. Works either way as long as you start out early enough to finish before sunset!

Such a beautiful hike; redwoods that are quiet and mysterious to begin, then it opens up to amazing views. Fog, meadows and plenty of birds to watch. One of the best hikes I’ve been on.

It was foggy, but still beautiful. There were so many wildflowers, and because it was early in the morning it wasn’t super busy. Easy to get and a nice easy walk.

I hit this trail up nearly every time I’m out at Bodega Head. There are ocean views for days when the fog burns off. The trail is super easy, perfect for a relaxing walk/hike to soak up the area’s natural beauty.

Amazing view! we do not have much time there, and only take a very short walk. next time definitely will spend a day there around.

I'm not exactly in great shape, nor do I go on hikes very often, so I admit I almost decided to just stay at the beach after seeing the trail wind up and up into the hills. I'm so glad I didn't. Absolutely beautiful views of the Russian River valley, the coast, Jenner, and the mountain ranges. Arrived early and only ran into one other person, otherwise just forests, fields, a huge assortment of birds, beetles and butterflies and a morning well spent. Went up Pomo first and came back on Red Hill - you get a good workout but plenty of places to stop and relax.

You can start the hike right from the street or drive all the way down to the beach but we stopped somewhere in between, at the blind beach sign. It’s a short zig zag down ending with a pretty cool staircase. The stairs are a bit difficult to traverse but once you are on the beach it’s definitely worth it! The beach is secluded with tons of driftwood, rocks, and oyster shells . We had a fun time exploring and letting the dogs roam around.

Nice, fun hike. It was a little busy but it was fun and well marked. We found a way to scramble down to a little isolated beach that was so great. Not a person in site. Get there early for a decent parking spot before the area fills up.

Love this place! It is a nice and friendly hike for all beginners. They also have parking spaces in between this hike so you can park in the middle and cut the hike in half. We ended up parking in the middle of this trail to make it 4 miles altogether. Has a fabulous view of the ocean at all times. Great for kids and we will be back again!

Lots of great photo opportunities, easy to follow trail, and wasn't crowded at all mid-week.

Picturesque and breathtaking views of the Pacific with beautiful wildflowers that populate this glorious walk along the well marked and easy trail. Do not skip this hidden gem as you travel along Hwy 1.

Absolutely marvelous. Just exactly what the northern Cali coast is at its finest. Loved taking my son

I think I found my new favorite hike. I started as others described: parked at Shell beach, took the Pomo side first, then came back on the Red Hill side. Lovely views, occasional shade and moderately difficult. I'll be back!

I did part of the trail as a short loop from the wrights beach parking area to the next beach access point maybe 3/4 mile away, then down from the bluff to return along the beach. Beautiful trail, as others have said. Suggest wearing long pants - when I was there in early June the section after the first boardwalk was choked with waist-high weedy brush, including prickly thistle plants crowding the trail and making it quite narrow at times. Not so nice to brush against with bare legs.

Great morning hike with beautiful flowers. Started at shell beach and took Pomo side first. Fog broke while we were at Pomo campground area. Red hill on the way back and back down to the beach for picnic lunch. Perfect day!

This hike was well worth the views of the coast! Definitely recommend Pomo canyon trail going in and red hill trail coming back to avoid a straight uphill climb (but still plenty of challenging inclines along the way). Lots of sunshine on a nice day so don’t forget the SPF!

The tough climb at the beginning is worth it- gorgeous views :)

Although a very short hike, we ended our walk along the beach with this pretty little trail. The wildflowers are beautiful and the views are even better!

stunning!

Easy and beautiful.

This is not a hiking trail. It really is all a beach. Also, there is a sign for no dogs. wtf?

This is an easy walk atop the bluffs with an ocean view almost all the way. Wildflowers were everywhere in early April. There are smooth colorful rocks, with chert, blue shist, and plenty others in the mix on the coarse-grained beaches along the way.

Very beautiful views and lots of different scenery!

Loved this trail! Very refreshing and beautiful!

Gorgeous path down to the beach with a wonderful variety of wildflowers and views. It’s another access point that connects to Goat Beach too (I’m guessing tides may be a factor). Great spot to bring your dog and run on the beach. Excellent bird watching beach as well. I really enjoyed the awesome cliffs, sedimentary rocks and scarfs. P. S. Take the Goat Rock Beach exit (Blind Beach is in smaller text) off Hwy 1 and the small paved parking lot will be the first one on your left. Bathrooms were closed when we were there on a Sun but generally the ones down by Goat Rock are open.

LOVE this trail. We definitely recommend taking Pomo Canyon first and come back via Red Hill (great views of the ocean and also avoid some rocky uphill) scenery changes often so there is always something to see. Many places to stop and eat/rest. Took us about 3hrs with a lunch stop and many picture breaks!

free parking across street at shell beach. entrance sign is small. AMAZING HIKE. walk through forests, shrubbery, hills, and fields. The scenery changes. lots of little spots and side trails for breaks or reading. beautiful view of ocean and Russian River. great workout coming back up the canyon. bring hats and cover for the Red Hill portion. check wind conditions.

This trail is fabulous! Only about 2 Miles until you get to a small peak. The view from that hill is magnificent! And then 2 Miles back to the parking lot. The entire time you see the ocean, and you even have opportunities to walk down to the beach. We walked through golden red grasses and a big rock patch. We saw wild iris blooming here and there. The highlight was definitely the rocks in the ocean. If you want, you can even go further up the trail and make the hike longer. The small peak was a nice stopping point, though.
