Lots of signage to find the trails, many of which branch off this one. It's a well-shaded trail—road, actually—so it's great on a hot day. Pretty much up, up, up on the way to Lake Marie (which is not real impressive, but ok). If you have time, take another trail down instead of the road, just for interest's sake. Going up is not a difficult climb, just relentlessly uphill.

lots of elevation change but beautiful in winter! some trails still recovering from fire

The fire destroyed quite a bit of beautiful scenery but, it also created a different kind of beauty. I went off the "beaten path" as I tend to do. It is well worth the views. Do so at your own risk.

Beautiful day in February (dry times) for this old guy to trapse around the hills. Good workout and nice views.

I did this hike after a couple of days of rain. Trails were a little wet and muddy but not terribly so that it wasn’t enjoyable. Being the middle of winter was also nice because ticks weren’t active. I have heard that they are prevalent during the spring and summer. There is minimal water source so bring your own. You will venture on a couple of creeks and small lake you could get water but be sure to filter. They had just reopened the trails. The fire had hit several sections and they had to clear away lots of burnt trees. Manzanita trail was hit hard. THe Tuteur loop trail was closed. This section is schedule to open in a couple of weeks. The hike had many open views of the Napa valley and even Benicia/Martinez area. A good mix of shade and open area. The hike from Skyline Trail to SugarLoaf Peak was steep and a narrow single track. The fire was evident here as well but one could see young growth already starting. There is biking, horseback as well. There is RV parking and tent camping at the park entrance if you want to make a night of it. Very clean and open. It took me 4.5 hours to do the 8.5 miles perimeters without the Tuteur Trail section. (Including a 30 minute lunch at the top of Sugar Loaf Peak)

Skyline has reopened! THANK YOU to all the volunteers who cleared burnt trees and other vegetation, repaired signs, and got the park back in shape. The rebirth is beautiful.

The Perimeter Loop is moderate except for the climb up to Sugarloaf and it's fairly steep in spots on the way down. It's a beautiful hike.

A bit hard to find the trail head from the parking lot but it's a great sunny day hike with deer and turkeys right up to the trail edges. Beautiful views of wineries, downtown Napa and Silverado Trail.

Park closes at 6:15pm in the summer!!!!

Parking is $5. Definitely needed the app to keep on the correct trail...there are lots of trails that intersect.

Beautiful trail! A bit exposed to the sun at first, but shaded most of the way thereafter. Lots of lovely wild flowers, and a nice picnic area by the lake where you can relax and eat lunch. Definitely one of those trails that clears your mind of the clutter of every day.

Did the skyline loop to lake marie trail as a run. Well, it was supposed to be a run. Skyline trail killed that plan early on - it's a bit steep for an out of shape fat guy to run much on for the first mile or so at least. Also, there was a lot of poison oak encroaching the trail in several sections, so be aware. If you do Skyline, definitely stick with it around Lake Marie, as that's by far the best part of the hike. I recommend the Chapparal-Lake Marie trail return to make it a full loop.

Well marked and maintained trails with beautiful scenery.

Please as always watch where you are walking as we saw our first rattlesnake of the year today.

Trails were in great shape! Lots of water in the creek.

The trail is a little wet so slick in a few places. The wildflowers are just starting to poke their heads out. Give this park 2 or 3 weeks and it will be perfect! #napapony

Nice trail, great views, good length to give you time to see wineries in the afternoon. Don't be confused by the park's Lower Skyline Trail, this loop actually takes you on the regular Skyline Trail.

Also, I think next time I would do it the opposite direction, going clockwise.

It was as described. Easy to find, a relatively easy walk, good views of the eastern hills, the Vaca Mt.'s of Napa.

This can be a technical rock garden paradise or a quick flowing DH. Research the routes and plan accordingly.

Nice moderate hike. Up and down elevation, well shaded trails and nice scenic views of the valley. Good 2-2.5 hours of exercise

This was a picturesque hike in Skyline Wilderness park. The hike was 7-mile hike (3.5 hours) with a total ascent of 1,550 feet. It was a moderate hike with some good strenuous climb. We hiked the Skyline trail to Lake Marie, had a break at the lake, and then we took the Upper Marie Creek trail to Bayleaf trail, and turned to the Buckeye trail and back to the trail head.

This was a beautiful hike overlooking Napa Valley. Highly recommend. Moderate with a couple of steep inclines that were challenging (Rock Rim).

Many trails to choose from and venture off of. Beautiful views but bring a lot of water! More walking up hill than there is walking down hill

My wife and I enjoyed this hike after some morning shopping in Napa. It took two hours with a 20 minute picnic break. We went clockwise and were happy with our decision. This way gives you more shade on the climb up and then great views of Napa on the final descent back to the parking lot. The trail is about a third fire roads, but the other two thirds is composed of hiking trails. The loop takes you through a nice variety of habitats. There are bathrooms and water at the parking lot. There is a port-o-potty about midway through the hike, but no water on the trails. One warning, though. I'm not sure who created this trail, but it's not an official park trail. This is a collection of other trails so there are no signs for the "Lower Skyline Loop" trail. However, the All Trails App worked great and there was reception, so we had an easy reference whenever we came to an unmarked fork in the road.

Great homie but not a lot of shade and it's pretty steep. But I'm going back.

It was a beautiful hike actually took Skyline to Buckeye so we could see the lakes then took Lower Marie Creek back. Marie was pretty sunny tho so I wouldn't suggest on a hot day. Overall wonderful day will go back to concur all of Skyline.

Buddy and I hiked for the first time, we took the lesser road traveled and glad we did, definitely will be hiking up this one again.
