Trail is a fairly well-paved dirty road. Definitely not too difficult to follow. We went mid-day in October & it was actually warm out. But the trail was about half shade, half sun so it was pretty perfect. Views at the top are definitely beautiful of Shaver lake! There is more than 1 lookout point if you keep going about another 50-100 feet. The last bit is somewhat steep - though I’m out of shape & still managed without trouble. The way back is chill but still some inclines! Which I sorta struggled with because I had a bad hip. Our dogs also did the trail no problem. No puddles but you can stop by the reservoir on the way back for them to get some water. I would recommend! We were up & back with a few breaks and photo op at the end in less than 2 hours!

Fun trail, especially in the afternoon when it’s not too hot!

Beautiful trail with some great views. Creek and falls are currently flowing. We will be back here again.

The trail is hard to follow

Some decent waterfall action when we got there. Not a bad hike, it's fun and free.

Entrance is at the end of the parking lot near the Tesla supercharger (I tried to start based on a previous map and that was not correct, but I ended in the right spot). A pleasant walk if you're staying at the lodge and want a brief something without driving anywhere. Signage is not great but there are some that say "Tenaya Loop Trail." Wouldn't recommend as a trail to go out of your way for.

Really enjoyed this Fall hike but imagine it is amazing in the Spring bloom. Small amount of scramble until you get to the main trail, then it’s easy to follow. The creek is running strong on it’s way to Bass Lake. Water features all along the trail including some excellent swim holes. The Devils Slide looks like what commercial water slides we’re made to resemble... only far more treacherous. Signage says not to go beyond the fencing, but you can see that many probably do. Lot’s of places to sit and enjoy the view. Still a few flowers lingering on. Some gun shots heard from hunters.

awesome trail! a little buggy, not too bad. lots of spots to get in the water for the doggos. not at all busy on a wednesday! perfect temps out!

Just did this loop with a spur to Island lake. Trail was maintained; a little tricky in some areas full of boulders. Temp got down to 29° but with no wind I kept toasty. Fishing was great, caught plenty of Brooks and a couple Goldens. Mosquitoes weren't an issue first week of October. Hardly any firewood at South lake campground but it's an excellent spot for group camping. Took the clockwise route and glad I did. Road to trail head wasn't a problem for my stock 4wheel drive truck but I wouldn't recommend a car. Will definitely plan future trips out here.

Absolutely stunning. My second hike ever and I've got the bug. Waterfalls are amazing... only met one person today, nice and quiet.

The first mile+ is from where the road ends soon after you turn into Rancheria Falls from Tollbouse Rd (168). That’s the moderate part of the trail. After that, it’s a nice walk on a well maintained short trail to the waterfall. It was nice and cool and you could hear the waterfall before you could see it. Nature sounds are so exciting to me! And there were still ice and this is early October! 4.6 miles total. Kid friendly especially if you park at the trailhead where the actual parking lot is, then you cut your trail by 2 miles.

awesome experience

Tracked at 6.13 miles and 1,166 ft. Elevation gain. Mostly uphill on the way up to the falls, but occasional flat and downhill sections, which is nice that the uphill is broken up. Hiked it on an October Saturday afternoon and it was pretty crowded. Nice that you’re hiking along water almost the whole time and 2 different waterfalls. Nice hike!

Accidentally parked at the entrance off the road and not the trailhead but glad I did because it’s a short hike otherwise. Lots of water, very pretty. Once saw two other people.

I hiked rather than taking the ferry. I had the trail to myself all day with my terrier, molly. I took so many wonderful pictures. the scenery was always changing. The trail as it follows the lake is a rollercoaster. up and down. not bad. we camped upstream at Mono Creek and had a beautiful deep pool. A definite must trail to hike.

This was a great trail but we only went passed the first set of falls. The bugs were getting bad and we had already hiking 25 miles the two days prior. All in all it was a nice trial but some spots were overgrown and a few wet crossings.

Awesome trail for off-road activities. Drove my 2018 Jeep JL through it with out any problems. No real crazy obstacles but you can make it difficult if you choose too. Kids had fun and watching the sunset from the watch tower was amazing.

Hiked Sunday 9-29-19. It had hailed/snowed some the night before. Trail is easy to see/follow and all downed trees had been cleared. No bugs due to the cooler temps. Saw 3 other hikers, birds, chipmunks and marmots (deer on other trip). My fitbit put it closer to 12 miles round trip. Took me 4 hrs going up and 3 hrs coming down. I'd rank it med-hard because of the constant grade, but not difficult. Spictacular views and beautiful scenery! Will definately hike it again.

Nice single track trail I would recommend you take a bell so hikers know your coming down hill. Nice wide trail really well kept. You do have to pay to park but it’s worth it.

very dope trail no hard at all, obviously its end of summer so the waterfall isnt raging but it's still super nice. good amount of water to admire.

Water is still going strong. Moderate up till the first Falls. Easy to the second. Would recommend. Our dog loved it. Very pretty. My Fitbit clocked it as 7.7 miles. Husbands clocked it about 7 miles. Would recommend getting there early. Crowded if you get there after 10am. We started our hike at 9am and only passed 3 sets of groups coming back down. On our way back to the parking lot we were stopping for uphill hikers every 5-10 minutes for an hour.

I was a little confused thinking I was maybe on the wrong trail judging by AllTrails rating of “hard” I have didnt even touch 4x4 it was nothing near hard Tho it has awesome views it’s very crowded for a trail I have seen a least 30 people up here already
