The route shown on alltrails isn't well marked, if marked at all, up until you get to the fork half-way up. You need to keep you eyes open so you don't get too far off trail. Taking the left at that fork also appeared to be off trail as well with the random stone cairn every once in a while. It's fairly straight-forward to find your way back to the main trail though.

Nice and peaceful trail. However, towards the end we came to private property and the owner had a pitbull which was not on a leash and some what frightened us. The dog followed us for about 30 sections barking then left us alone. Besides that trail was good!

Fun little trail around the pond! Great for children.

Very enjoyable hike featuring views of Shuteye mountain

Walked on this trail for a bit today. It was a nice, easy walk through the woods on a paved trail. We had a really hard time trying to figure out where to park as the trailhead listed on this page is well past the locked gate. We finally parked by the boat launch and walked on the road (which is all the trail is anyway). We ended up taking a logging road for some water access and had just the best time jumping over the tiny streams that pop up everywhere during the spring thaw.

Beautiful hike with gorgeous waterfalls.

Absolutely incredible waterfalls! Hiked this trail on April 1, and the water was roaring. It was a busy weekend in the area but there weren’t too many people on the trail. If you’re in the Yosemite area I’d say this is a must do! No fee, dogs on leash allowed. Well maintained trail.

It was more of a walk than a hike. But this walk let you down... it’s definitely thrilling and adventurous. Walking on the flumes is exhilarating... especially if there’s water. I wouldn’t suggest little kids do this hike... it could be dangerous. Nice little place to have a picnic at the end with the sound of the rapids.

It's a nice hike! bring some insect repellant...

Super cute, fun, stroller friendly trail that’s short enough for my young kids to walk themselves. And lots of fun stops along the way.

Cute trail. My son enjoyed it. Big owls nest with eggs , a painted tunnel.. nice interactive loop trail.

We parked near the trail head. Sun and snow made beautiful pictures. Creek runs on the side of the trail. We turned around half way, because couldn’t cross the river. Main waterfall is very pretty, however more people. While hiking to Waterfall was not a sole on a Sunday. Going downhill on way back.

This is a great trail from Fall until hit starts hitting the 90s. It's even better after a light snow. Full trail starts at Cedar Valley but if you want a shorter hike then there is another trailhead further up HW41 that is about the halfway point to red rock falls at the end of this trail.

so pretty, especially with the light snow we got covering the ground!

Perfect Sunday hike. Subtract .4 miles from our total due to initially missing the initial right turn up the hill. There was a lot of snow going uphill but was not difficult to walk through and most had melted on our return down the hill. I would rate this hike as easy due to the very gradual climb out to the watch tower. 10.3 total.

We took my 3yr old and a 6yr old friend.
I was fine starting out but if you have issues with heights be prepared for a few tough descents. I froze several times trying to get over metal grates. The kids had a great time, we made it to the water for a picnic and a little rope free boulder climbing. The views were great, the breaks were many. Bring plenty of water, or something to purify with.
Start early and enjoy the peacefulness, if you’re out on Saturday be prepared for taking turns walking down the metal grates.

Loved this trail! The views were amazing. Lots of inclines, definitley got my heart pumping.

Was a very nice hike. Didn’t feel as long as it is. We did have to deal with some snow flurries early on but worth it!

Beautiful trail. Some steep inclines but manageable with rest areas, maybe too steep for little ones. Wooden balcony/lookout point with benches at water fall/midpoint.

We did this hike as a family with the kiddos...trail length is actually over 5 miles but super flat and easy kids really enjoyed it. Also the flys are NO JOKE!! they sure are buzzing around a little annoying at times but we got through it.

We started on Cedar Valley Dr.. nice hike not to crowded in the am but got busy as the day went on.... A few changes in elevation other then that pretty easy .. waterfalls were pretty cool

great hike. Just don't wear jeans, not comfortable at all. take lots of water because you will be hiking up a bit. will do again

Definitely a hard hike during the winter, but if you can make it to the peak... get ready to be amazed!

Great hike, little hard to find the real beginning (on Cedar Valley Dr) instead of the halfway point right off the 41. But either way great hike with plenty of steps and areas to rest and enjoy the falls.

Very fun day hike with lots of views of the water

A beautiful winter hike with a spectacular view of bake lake and the valley from the fire lookout. The way there was a steady incline with various types of trees, birds, and moderate amount of nats. The hike ended up being about 13 miles long so we had to run back to beat the sunset, which was the funnest part :) I don’t recommend this hike for young children due to the length and incline. We will definitely do it again with less time restraints!

This is a great trail. There is parking for about 4-6 cars at the trail head right off the main road. My family and I hiked this trail in January (no snow this year) so we felt comfortable taking it on. The trail was a paved road, even terrain and clear of trees. The waterfall is early on in the trail making it perfect for younger children that start to bore with just looking at trees. This trail
Offers a few beautiful views and a very gentle if any grade. It’s a perfect day trip for a family with younger children.
