Great easy hike. Walking across the metal grates is nerve racking at first. I get a bit of motion sickness, so walking against the flow of water made me a bit dizzy. Not a lot of climbing. My 10 yr old and 8 yr old loved it and did great. The end has a bit of water to look at and we didn’t cross the pools.

Fishing’s not that good! A lot of mountain lions you can hear them crying out when the sunsets & when it rises keep a eye on the dogs & kids.

Fun little trail around the pond! Great for children.

Very enjoyable hike featuring views of Shuteye mountain

We took our dogs and the snow was not too powdery so we were able to walk fairly easily! Beautiful scenery and not too cold! Will be back again!

Great hike and beautiful falls. A little challenging in the snow but worth it.

A nice trail with lots of creek access. The trail was very poorly marked. if it weren't for GPS there is no way to follow it. Also beware, although the trail goes through an outdoor school, they are NOT friendly about allowing hikers to pass.

This was a nice trail but very poorly marked. It meanders along the creek for about half of it. BEWARE though that this trail goes through Green Meadows school and the personnel there are not very friendly about you passing through a public school campus.

It was more of a walk than a hike. But this walk let you down... it’s definitely thrilling and adventurous. Walking on the flumes is exhilarating... especially if there’s water. I wouldn’t suggest little kids do this hike... it could be dangerous. Nice little place to have a picnic at the end with the sound of the rapids.

I’ve done this hike before and LOVED it, today we went up and the road is still too snowy to get up (even with 4WD), we saw a car with chains get stuck. Will try back next month!

Super cute, fun, stroller friendly trail that’s short enough for my young kids to walk themselves. And lots of fun stops along the way.

Cute trail. My son enjoyed it. Big owls nest with eggs , a painted tunnel.. nice interactive loop trail.

A bit different than the trail shown on the app. Fun trail info along the way. Great view at the top and some cool granite too. Little creek running up top that the kids loved.

This is a great hike from Mono Campground. There are TALL rocks to sit on and jump off of. The lake is large but just small enough that you can swim across to the far side and jump off of Eagle Rock if you have balls of steel. There are lots of harmless little black snakes and fish. This lake is also known as Tule Lake because of all the reeds. So much wildlife, and very peaceful.

I used to come here every summer with my friend’s family. It’s such a wonderful escape from the world, beginning with that epic drive! I posted a picture of the view from the road in on this trail page. If you are afraid of heights, you will be anxious! This place is absolutely magical and special. This loop hits most of the main springs. This place is a mix of natural mud bottom pools, outdoor stone tubs with natural water pipes in, and then of course if you are splurging there is the spa in the campgrounds. However, there is no getting closer to the great mother than a nighttime dip in hot water under the stars. This place also has great access points into the John Muir Wilderness. Way better than the touristy Yosemite. Best place in the sierras, hands down.

LOVE THIS PLACE!! Such a cool drive to get their too! Since moving to California two years ago, this area is by far my most favorite. So serene and peaceful.

Perfect Sunday hike. Subtract .4 miles from our total due to initially missing the initial right turn up the hill. There was a lot of snow going uphill but was not difficult to walk through and most had melted on our return down the hill. I would rate this hike as easy due to the very gradual climb out to the watch tower. 10.3 total.

We took my 3yr old and a 6yr old friend.
I was fine starting out but if you have issues with heights be prepared for a few tough descents. I froze several times trying to get over metal grates. The kids had a great time, we made it to the water for a picnic and a little rope free boulder climbing. The views were great, the breaks were many. Bring plenty of water, or something to purify with.
Start early and enjoy the peacefulness, if you’re out on Saturday be prepared for taking turns walking down the metal grates.

Brr! A little snow on the trail. Stunning frozen falls.

Beautiful hike. Saw no other hikers. Great for kids. 1/2 pf the hike is along a stream, lots of opportunities for kids to climp on rocks.

We did this hike as a family with the kiddos...trail length is actually over 5 miles but super flat and easy kids really enjoyed it. Also the flys are NO JOKE!! they sure are buzzing around a little annoying at times but we got through it.

A nice long hike. Lots of snow and a little scetchy near the falls.

The hike was really nice! There's about 3-4inches of snow on most of the trail so be prepared. The waterfall was frozen too, but still so pretty!

Great easy trail to hike! Love the river. highly recommended.

Went on trail in January 2018. Great trail for beginners❤️

Trail isnt very well cleared so we didnt make it all the way up, and I’d say mostly not kid friendly due to some steep drop-offs. Wonderful view of the lake at the top.

A beautiful winter hike with a spectacular view of bake lake and the valley from the fire lookout. The way there was a steady incline with various types of trees, birds, and moderate amount of nats. The hike ended up being about 13 miles long so we had to run back to beat the sunset, which was the funnest part :) I don’t recommend this hike for young children due to the length and incline. We will definitely do it again with less time restraints!

The trail is beautiful this time of year, just a little snow and ice here and there so be careful going over logs or rocks with ice on them. China peak gates were closed so our family parked across the road and walked in to the trail head. It was worth the extra walking. We have done this trail before but with the closed gate we were the only people hiking it on a Saturday morning.

This is a great trail. There is parking for about 4-6 cars at the trail head right off the main road. My family and I hiked this trail in January (no snow this year) so we felt comfortable taking it on. The trail was a paved road, even terrain and clear of trees. The waterfall is early on in the trail making it perfect for younger children that start to bore with just looking at trees. This trail
Offers a few beautiful views and a very gentle if any grade. It’s a perfect day trip for a family with younger children.
