Super awesome trail. You really feel the altitude my heart was pounding like crazy. Pays to be somewhat fit to do this climb with a 27 pound backpack. Lakes were beautiful will do again for sure. Correction I took the lakes trail up thus I was able to see the lakes but then connected to Alta Peak from the back. Bring enough food cause I didn’t

Stayed at pear lake. Nice pit toilot on site. View from the watchtower is spectacular.

Great hike and on the tougher side if your not use to the elevation. Great fishing out of both lakes. Caught over 10 in the upper lake and about the same in the lower lake. Not very big fish but fun to catch and relase. Camp sites are pretty exposed as you dont have much tree growth but campsites are easy to find.

This is a pretty tough 3 miles of straight up hill climbing. Once you get to the lake it takes your mind off the buring legs. Do yourself a favor if you have the energy and scuttle up one of the peaks.

This trail had amazing views, and the plants were really colourful and interesting. We hiked it in late November. This is in the foothills so no sequoias, but beautiful nonetheless. We didn’t allot enough time before sundown so we didn’t reach the falls, but would do again.

this trail is beautiful! it's one of my favorites & is doable by beginner hikers.

Lots of stickers, good hike but encountered 2 bears on this trail.

Pictures can't do these trees justice. Even with a little traffic and annoying kids it was still an awe-inspiring hike.

Easy going down. Mild elevation going up. Worth seeing Sherman tree and the other sequoias.

Did this as a day hike. Once you pass Bear paw meadow the views really open up. Staring up at the face of Valhalla was something special. Little water remains in the creeks.

This is a long hike but well worth the effort. I arrived at the trailhead at 8:30am and with stops at each of the lakes for photography was back at my car aroumd 4:30pm. The trail is well marked and there are even two pit toilets along the way. There's not many flat stretches, so be prepared for a lot of up and down. At Heather Lake you have the option of taking back the Hump Trail instead of Watchtower Trail, which was nice to add some variety to the hike. The views were incredible and I only ram into two other hikers. Snow was expected the next day, so not sure how much longer parts of the trail will rain open this late into the season.

Quick, great trail. Did it Saturday, 11/16/19. Not too crowded. Drove right up to the trailhead. Viewed the hazy mountains and sunset in the horizon.

I did this hike 3 times this year. Once in the spring (April), once in early summer (June), and once recently in November. It is one of my favorite hikes in Sequoia. Not very difficult at all. A beautiful forest stroll next to a creek with an epic payoff at the end. It was best for me in June after the snow had melted, the wildflowers were in bloom, and the waterfall was roaring.

Wow!! I've passed this trail many times but finally decided to do it and was glad I did. Short and steep. It has an excellent view of Moro Rock right away. Once you get up to Hanging Rock the view is excellent..but don't stop there..the trail extends a little higher to an electricity station that has even more views. Moro Rock was super crowded on this day...0 people on this trail.

Stayed at the Whiskey Log camp Super beautiful trial in sequoia at low elevation with views of South Fork river all along the way Some massive sequoias about 3/4 way in! Very rocky and unpaved road 3 miles to trailhead Lots of bugs and beginning of trail but once we got to camp there were none! Saw a bear walking toward us about halfway through camp Very easily scared it off by yelling “HEY BEAR” be bear aware and PACK OUT ALL YOUR TRASH!

Highly recommended, also recommend venturing down some of the side trails to see the various named tree groups, absolutely beautiful. If you go to the founders group, watch out for falling acorns and seeds from all the chipmunks!

Did this trial 11/16/19. Went all the way to Pear Lake. It was pretty warm walking up and I was in a t shirt, but on the way back, around 2:45, i had to put two more layers on. So I suggest to dress warm or have an extra jacket. Took about 4 hours to get up, with a short break at Heather Lake. And about 2.5 to 3 hours to get back. Very beautiful lakes and was so worth it, but my legs are BURNING! it was a steep climb up to Pear Lake.

We drove up on Saturday and slept in our car before an early 4:30 start on Sunday morning. The trail was easy to follow as it meandered its way up to the lakes. At 6, we got our first look Mt Langley, right as the sun rose. We made our way up Old Army pass before heading over to the last climb. Once we reached the base of the final boulder field, the wind died down, and the temperature up to a pleasant 65 degrees. It took a little longer to make it up the last section than we expected, but the views were worth it. After a few photos on the summit, we started back down. It was nice being able to stop at the streams to get more water on the way down. We go back to the cars well before we thought we would and were rewarded with a beautiful sunset drive down the mountain. Overall, this day hike worked out better than I expected, and I'm excited to head back.

If you are looking to link the lakes trail with the Alta Peak trail, this is the most direct and easiest way to do it. Enjoy!

Just did hiking today. Beautiful place it’s cooler and shaded Rocky Mountain at the end, creek is low in water but it’s not big deal... overall total ... love the place
