great short 2 mile loop. get there early to have some shaded trail and avoid crowds. Opens at 7:30 year round. summer admission only $5 adults and $3 youth. Beautiful scenery going into the canyon oasis. Ranger said that the falls will probably be pretty much dried up in the next few weeks. Very refreshing to take a dip after the hike in. Be sure to take time in the nature center as there is a lot of historical information.

My husband and I are visiting from Oklahoma and loved hiking this trail! The waterfall was beautiful and so fun to wade in! Highly recommend this trail!

I started early today to beat the heat. I only encountered other hikers at the north and south extremes, from trail heads to first lookout points. Otherwise, I had it all to myself. Wonderful views over South Palm Springs with the sun coming up.

as a beginner, this trail kicked my butt but in a good way. take snacks and water, I wore hiking boots but tennis shoes ok too. the waterfall is stunning, refreshing and a treat.
there is some rock steps incline, so be prepared, but I saw kids, elderly folks doing fine. it does cost 12$ entry, but worth it!

Great view of Palm Springs

Easy to find trailhead. Trail was clean and elevation was doable. Lots of rocks and boulders. Several hikers on this trail. Beautiful views of Palm Springs.

trail running

Did this hike a couple of times when I was in the area, once as a hike the other as a trail run (with some hiking up the steep climbs!) Preferred running it to hiking it

EVERYONE!!! Please take caution while parking at the trail head at the end of Ramon Rd. We were about to start hiking when we noticed another vehicle had its window smashed and had been broken into. (We notifiedPalm Springs PD)There was also evidence of broken glass 10 yards down where additional parking is. Be safe out there.

Sorry it wouldn’t let me write this without putting stars, just wanted to give the hiking community a heads up. I can’t truly rate this trail as I haven’t hiked it.

Scenic and dramatic!

this hike, man. that ascent don't quit. i think i woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and i definitely spent most of the return trip mentally lambasting everything from the obvious liars who "enjoyed" this hike to the hubris of whoever decided this path should be trod by humanity in the first place, to whoever decided to print my water bottle with the label "1000 mL" instead of "1 L". like, ? way to just reject, out of hand, the entire reason for inventing the metric system?

THAT SAID, i bet this walk would be really beautiful in early spring/winter. some great views, interesting geology. saw one jackrabbit. very few birds. all other life forms (aka, lizards) were scarce and, when glimpsed, looked about as slow-roasted as i felt.

if you're gonna do this hike in summer, leave early and bring a lot of water! I started ~30 min after sunrise and was halfway to becoming beef jerky by the time i got back to the parking lot.

the oasis was great! and probably the ~.5 miles before it were easily the most diversely beautiful in terms of flora, fauna, and landscape. good spot to catch some shade and a snack. also, cell reception was wonderfully reliable throughout hike up until the oasis itself, where it was spotty.

Another classic Palm Springs hike -- similar terrain to the South Lykken trail, but follows a secluded canyon up to the top of a mountain ridge rather than trails along the rim -- some striking views and scenery -- highly recommended.

This is a great hike! Views are great. It has some steep climbs but it’s a good workout!

Loved this hike. It is an easy to moderate hike. The desert foliage and beautiful waterfall at the end - make it worth the admission price.

Not a bad hike. It’s a good workout. No shade, just be prepared..

This is a great hike! Very easy to navigate. 35-45 minutes to complete. This is a great option to incorporate to your fitness routine. Friendly people as well. Give it a try.

Staff wasn’t very friendly at visitors center seemed annoyed I was trying to ask what snake I saw on the trail when I showed them picture. I plan to return but stay clear of staff only interested in collecting money vs friendly customer service.

This hike has some ascent at the beginning. We saw a mountain goat chowing down on a cactus. We didn’t go to the end but enjoy the sites.

This trail is right off the main road and very popular with people. It is a good challenge up to the top and great views .

my daily hike, wonderful

Lots of stairs, not great for strollers! Otherwise, beautiful hike and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the waterfall at the end. Took about an hour out and back, but depends on how long you hang out. Bring water, sunscreen, and good shoes.

I loved the variety of this trail. Inclines were not difficult but the soft sand was a little rough for my knee (old injury). Pleasant views but didn't see any sheep, which I was kind of bummed about. I'd do this hike again!

Amazing views. You get to experience lots of variety. You go through three oasis. Not a difficult hike, only ascent is at the beginning of the hike. Difficulty is in the distance. If you plan to do the whole 21km one-way you have to start really early since it gets really hot.

I was visiting Palm Desert and wanted to gain some elevation for a view. This was a fun hike with terrific views, glad I chose it.

Great trail. Nice scenery and views. Got to the 6.1 mile mark that indicated the end of the trail, but it seemed to go on at least a mile more to the horizon. Only reason for not getting 5 stars was that there were extremely irritating eye gnats for several hours of this hike.

My son & I did the loop this morning in about an hour starting about 8:30. Definitely ascend clockwise as the trail is quite craggy. There are many switchbacks to the top but none are too vertical. Completing the loop on the descent the trail is generally wider with fewer rocky steps so it's an easy run to the end. I'm 72 and he is 35. We both agree that on a scale of 1-10 this hike is a 6 for difficulty and a 9 for fun.

Easy trail with great views.

Just when you think how easy this is it takes you on a roller coaster ride around and around. Lots of fun and good workout. Ended up on wrong trail going down and disembarked two miles from my car.

This trail should be rated moderate to strenuous if hiked in a clock-wise direction. The "Grind" portion is quite steep, however it's better to hike up the Grind than down. Good work out hike. Very popular and crowded.

Just enough challenge to get your heart beating. Beautiful vistas Trails are single file.
