I started early today to beat the heat. I only encountered other hikers at the north and south extremes, from trail heads to first lookout points. Otherwise, I had it all to myself. Wonderful views over South Palm Springs with the sun coming up.

Great view of Palm Springs

best views of palm springs looking east

my daily hike, wonderful

Alot of variety and nice views!

Easy trail with great views.

This trail should absolutely be done in the early spring and fall! Even may be nice during the winter. Temps are so so hot down here, bring plenty of water for everyone and snacks for breaks during the hike! Wear good shoes. The beginning Part is straight up and then it gets a little rocky before being leveling out. Nice views the whole way and an excellent workout!

I’m new to hiking and looking forward to many more adventures like this trail.

Great hike! Great view at the summit!

Great trail for all levels of hikers. Terrific view at the summit

This is a great hike if you have two cars. We started at the north end with a steep but short (1.5 miles) manageable climb. Then there is some scenic relaxed walking along the the ledge, with great views including big horn sheep sightings. Descend on the south end. Approximately 4.5 miles, which took us about 2 hours of moving time.

Should be rated ‘Moderate’

Exhausting but so worth it!

I have seen the Cross while driving South on Bob Hope many times so it was great to actually hike up to see it.

A great hike!

An enjoyable hike. Very popular, and an inviting ‘starter hike’ for those new to desert hiking around Palm Springs and area.

Should be rated as moderate because of the first half mile.

Saw many Ovis canadensis and a few Canine domesticus (scoff laws).

Beautiful views over the valley. Dogs are no problem from South trailhead. No dogs allowed at TC trailhead. Only met a few other hikers. Very nice hike.

THIS PARK DOES NOT ALLOW DOGS (EVEN ON LEASH). PLEASE CORRECT YOUR INFORMATION.

A few thoughts on this trail:
It's well marked, easy to find, easy to follow. Seemed to be good for trail running or even mountain biking or a less intense hike. It wasn't particularly technical in terms of foot placement or terrain type: most of it was a nice even sand-like path. Other reviewers are right though, the incline was aggressive for the first 1/2 mile. Not much to look at though compared to other trails in the area, and there was a fair amount of people. A good workout, but didn't do it for me overall.

Trespassing is very, very common. I went from Goat Trails to Murry Peak this morning. I was first at 7am but many seen on return.

A fun trail as described, but the trail is far from easy (should be classified as moderate). It is very steep for the first 150 yards, and then is a serious 1.3 mile, uphill climb to the cross. Also, the directions show a left turn to parking at the end; however, a right turn at the end will also take you to parking and is in the direction of the trailhead.

Great hike which is not too over run with other hikers. Offers great views of Palm Springs and Tahquitz Falls.

We followed directions on Google maps but couldn't find the Cross Trail trailhead. Instead there is a sign for the Homestead trail. We expected "easy" to mean "flat." Instead, the trail starts with a steep grade uphill.

One of the best trails in Palm Springs, with a good chance of encountering big horn sheep.

Heart pounding climb, but the views are worth it. Make sure you go to Jane's Hofbrau oasis and Eagle Canyon.

A must when you are in Palm Springs.

I love this hike. A quick workout in the morning. It hot in the afternoon as you are in direct sun.
