Was a nice hike! We did the Hazelnut trail in the counter clockwise direction. It’s not too steep and the trail looks different at different points.

If you go late in the afternoon, say 2pm, you can avoid the worst of the sun and the fog will have burned off - so you get the spectacular views as promised!

Easy trail for hiking or trail running. Lots of beautiful nature and only few people that pass by.

Pretty easy trail - gradual uphill at the start but nothing too strenuous before a steady downhill at the end. We finished it in less than 2 hours with only a few short breaks.

Ok since no one discussed it so far .. you do have to put to park inside here which I totally get is for upkeep however if you come not ready to do so or feel like it you can park in the neighborhood and have a short walk in keep in mind all gates close at 7. Once you get inside you will see visitor center on the left a pay booth on the right . I started counter clockwise and took right at pay booth and a left where it says ranger resident which is the start of the trail however you can go straight and start counter clockwise by the bathrooms and picnic area . If you look at map you will see this is a combo between loop and in and out . The actual loop part is easy/mod and mostly shaded once you get to the straight section it gets moderate and little more narrow . I didn’t go all the way to north peak since I’ve done that trail before and did about 5.9 without that tiny lady bit .

Good local workout trail. Partially shaded, plus foggy weather of Pacifica made it very doable in the afternoon. Recommend for trail running too! The view could be awesome if there is no fog.

Nice trail with a good steady 2 mile climb to the summit. Foggy day, so I didn't see the views but I'll definitely be back on a clear day.

Great medium-difficulty trail. Once we passed the overlook, the fog blocked any potential views of the bay. Warning: extremely windy near the peak. Bring a beanie! Wonderful trail.

This is a nice trail with a hard packed path. The parking lot charges $6 per car, but on a weekday when I was there, street parking was plentiful. I did the loop in. Clockwise direction, and the elevation gain is a little slower that way.

Cold and windy on top but well worth it.

It’s a great trail. Fast hike uphill and run downhill

Didn’t finish it all, too open and hot after the loop. Trail is well maintained and shady during loop though

Amazing trail! Lots of scenery change. From open space to ridge views to a cool tree grove and lush greenery at the bottom! Trail is about 4.5 miles. Went Friday after work.

Steady up and steady down. On a hot day you can see the entire Bay Area. On a hot day you can also get a sunburn. Note that there isn’t anywhere to sit at the top and rest really. A few benches along the way with great views however.

Specifically chose one of hottest days of year to do this hike so there would be no fog. #47 in Jane Huber's book. At times I could see the following - Mt Diablo, sutro tower, golden gate bridge, Mt Tam and the farallones. Pretty impressive. steady but relatively easy climb. Views of Bay, half moon bay, and south bay at top. noise from SFO a constant reminder that you aren't far from civilization. wind a reminder that you aren't that big. thumbs up.

i have revised my rating to 2 because I got poison oak. Gorgeous views. Lots of wildflowers. Fabulous Eucalyptus forest at the top that you walk through. Did counter clockwise. Walked 1.75 miles up, which is exactly what I like. BUT, I didn’t love the mostly narrow, single lane path with the dozen or so hikers or runners that I needed to pass by. Made me feel like I was on a well traveled versus less traveled path. Also, the path itself (while often narrow-ish) is a bit overgrown and not completely flat as water must run down the middle of it when it rains. Both sides of the path are lined with a lot of poison oak. Make sure you have on long pants and socks, and shower and wash clothes immediately after the hike. I don’t want to discourage anyone from enjoying this hike - if they aren’t allergic to poison oak - as it really is pretty.. This trail doesn’t allow bikes or pets, only hikers & runners.

This was a nice and easy hike. Great views and lots of trees and flowers along the way. $6 to park even without a ranger at the entrance booth. You put your money in these small envelopes, note your VIN and license plate number on it, put the stub/receipt portion on your dash, and drop the envelope in the bin up front. Make sure that when you get to the view bench on the trail overlooking Linda Mar Beach, that you continue up Brooks Trail to get closer to the falls. Instead, we headed to the right, down the Montara Mountain trail which took us back to the parking lot. Although this was a nice trail, it took us away from the falls. Make a left at the bench instead to get to the falls and walk down along Trout Farm trail!
