Start in the parking lot. Not sure why it says 7 miles but it took me 3.5 miles. Very nice level hike. Wetlands were dried up as it's mid- November. Please clean up after your dogs.

This and connecting areas to Bel Marin Keys, not necessarily this trail, could and should be a great area allowing people to walk for miles yet it's a very restricted area that states it's either unauthorized to enter because it's state or federal land or it's closed because birds nest and they don't want dogs running around disturbing the nesting season. extremely disappointing to live next to awesome nature and be barred from enjoying it.

So many ticks. Not a reasonable amount.

Ticks. Lots and lots of ticks.

Chose this trail because I wanted a brisk walk without muddy conditions after months of rain. Good for bird watching and some wildflowers

San Pablo Bay NWR 38.130829° -122.473730° Parking lot 1200 feet off Hwy 37 across from Lakeville Hwy. Tee intersection of Bay Trail. No pets on or beyond RR crossing. Flat. Can be windy. Many shore birds at low tide.

It’s right next to a sanitation district and you can smell it ! We didn’t even want to get out of the car

Worst hike I think I have ever gone on. We walked through a very overgrown trail, completely covered by bushes, and then walked on what seemed to be a farming maintenance trail. We didn't even reach the Bay before turning back because it was so boring and unsightly. The farming equipment we walked by at mile 1 should have been a sign.

Peaceful. No cover. Kids had a good time. I love the informational picture boards along the trail.

The loop is washed out because of a tidal flow enhancement project in 2009 where it turned out nature had better ideas as to where the tidal current should go. (according to the sign) You can hike 2.6 miles out to the bay, and a small part of the loop.

IMPASSABLE AND NOT MAINTAINED. We decided to go clockwise around the loop. This meant we found the IMPASSABLE trail 90% done with the loop, which meant this was an 11.5 mile hike. There is more than 10 feet of fast moving water that no one, regardless of ability, should walk through. Afterwards we see a tiny notice that the trail is out, right next to a big map which doesn't note this. My legs are fully scratched up from unmaintained trail of sharp brush, starting at the shoreline. For the previous 5 star reviewer: you clearly didn't take the route in the map.

Trail is accessed at the green dot on my recording. If you use the other guys starting point you will be lost like I was at first. good flat walk with great views of the ocean and ocean tidal marshes. very flat. negatives; ticks in the grass and direct sun the whole time. do not go off the trail! ticks everywhere in the summer.

This very rainy winter and apparently no maintenance of this trail means it's completely overgrown and impassable. I was able to run on the farming roads adjacent to the trail for an 8 mile out and back but the deep ruts cut in the mud by farming equipment were difficult to traverse.

BEAUTIFUL! Peaceful, wide gravel path, abundant wildlife on the marshland. Mostly flat-great for trail running.

Great area with lots of bird watching opportunities. I drive Hwy 37 regularly and it's a beautiful area. Not sure about the bike rider review and people walking around in their underwear, but I would not consider that a worthy review. The description clearly says "The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round." not "...biking only if you tolerate thorns."

I planned on mountain biking the path, but the thorns on the path concerned me,so did the guy walking around in his underwear,by his van.

Just outside my front door. Nice easy walk along the marshes. Cool birds and in the summer, usually a cool breeze from the bay. One day I want to take a paddle board out on the creek itself. It can get muddy after a rain, and the ground is pretty pocky. So don't twist an ankle.
