great hike.. interesting to read the history and all about the invasive species. you might even see a horse or two joining you on the trail!

Easy to moderate hike and the view at the summit is worth the hike. Nice to see that in the midst of suburbs, nature is still abundant and accessible. Along the trail, you can enjoy the various wildflowers in bloom.

We enjoyed this hike yesterday, even though it was twice as long as we expected at the start 10.2 miles vs. the 5.1 miles that we expected. We also thought it was end atop a 1,500 ft peak but it ended in a ridge about 700 feet. Stlll it has lots of shady trees, primarily stays in the river valley and we made great time 4 hours, because the trail was mostly sand or dirt. We hiked from a parking lot at Sunset Drive to Raptor Ridge and back.

Beautiful trail. Great for beginners. I started at coast to coast trail and totaled at 15 miles. Glad I did both trails.

Beautiful trail, your gonna want to keep going so check out del dios gorge trail. Worth worth it!

Nice hike, part of the Coast to Crest Trail. I have now been able to complete the entire portion from the Coast to Lake Hodges.

This particular section of the hike was not overly challenging but enjoyable. I enjoyed the views especially of the Dam as you approach Lake Hodges.

This trail is just okay. There’s nothing particularly special about it. You never feel like you really get away from civilization because you always see homes at almost every section of the trail. We did see a mule deer bounding through the grass and a woodpecker pecking on a tree, which were both really neat. The trail is pretty narrow so it’s a bit annoying to have to make room for mountain bikers and there’s coyote and dog poop throughout the trail in various places. The trail abruptly ends at a shaded picnic table area.

I love this hike- flat enjoyable path around lake to gradual incline to pretty steep hike as you get to the top- Im older so I find this challenging enough for exercise- always see quail and roadrunner or two with nice view of lake- love it!

Not crowded during midday. Some rocky sections but mostly towards the top. Views of other mountains and rooftops of houses.

Good hike, 1st leg of the Coast to Crest...not difficult since it is flat.

This hike is incredibly long. The first 5 miles are completely flat and take you through some farm land before you begin to climb a summit. Once reaching the top, you begin to go down hill again. I haven’t completed the entire trail, maybe 11-12 miles, but the views are beautiful and it’s best in spring as it’s very exposed during the summer months.

Great hike. Rated appropriately in this app. Good hike even for senior hikers. 360 Panoramic view at the top. Not to crowded in Feb. and breeze was nice in places during the hike.

Nice hike. Easy trails. Out and back so no directional challenges. Too many bikes. And often crowded. The flat dirt trail is unshaded and there’s one ports potty about halfway in. Trail is next to agricultural fields, fenced with chain link on one side.

Bring plenty of water and snacks if you’re planning to make it a day.

Loved it! It was a great afternoon. The dog loved it, too. The trail is narrow in some areas so single file hiking. And if there’s a bike it’s tight.

For those who consider this “easy”.... perhaps Mt Fuji would be more appropriate for you.

Pretty but more urban than we like, not escaping enough for our tastes and we prefer hiking. This is completely flat.

Beautiful Views at the top!

Looks like a work in progress here. The Alltrails map is a little wrong. Once you cross Jimmy Durante, the trail sticks close to the road. If you follow the app trail, it will take you approximately 800 feet to a dead end. Still kind of a good place to stop and watch the wildlife. Great trail for birding, we saw an Osprey and some Kestrels.

Nice easy lots of wildlife around and great views.

Easy to moderate I would say. Not much to see until you get to the peak.

Nice stroll. Nice scenery. Kid friendly.

Perfect In January!

Took my 2 young kids and dogs on this flat trail around 2pm. Lots of freeway noise and auto odor the first 1/2 mile. But we did see some great wildlife: mullet jumping fish were cool, blue heron, lots of other birds and a caterpillar. We walked all the way out to the boardwalk near the fair grounds. Didn’t make it all the way to the beach because we stopped off at View Point brewery for drinks and a snack. Overall trail was good except for freeway noise and smell. Would do again off freeway hours and bring kids bikes.

My 6 yr. old and I did this trail not to long ago and had a great time. Great views from the peak.

Too many snakes on trail. Yikes!!!

Great views from top, a few moderate inclines. Dog friendly on leash.

I would say this trail is easy to moderate. pretty flat for a majority of the hike.

Great views over the lake.

Great trail with historic landmarks. This area was the site of a Mexican-American battle. It is level and easy.
