Excellent trail to view the San Francisco skyline and Bay. Beautiful views of the ocean too. Not too difficult of a trail either! We got lucky and had a cloudless/fogless day; it truly made the hike worthwhile. The wind can get a bit ridiculous though. Tie a hat to your head!

Just want to mention the southwest “trailhead” on Royce Way. Street parking. Trail starts with humble wooden stumps, winding behind houses, but quickly gains elevation. Trail steep and slippery due to loose dirt and the angle, but otherwise in great condition. Meets the main loop once on top. Excellent view.

There are a lot of poison oak as the others said, but as long as you stay on track you’ll be fine. Mostly unshaded, but the top was breezy and nice. Bring a light windbreaker

Straight up for a bit but then great rolling hills. On top. Great views great path.

Tough steep climb in the beginning. Wonderful easy walk at the top with some nice bay views. Beware of Poison Oak on the trail! I saw lots of it towards the end of the trail.

This was a nice easy walking trail. Pretty windy on the way up but a very nice view of San Francisco. I particularly liked the decent on the Big Trail near the end. Beautiful canopied trail with fern undergrowth.

Park at the school, and then walk outside of the school to find the trail. The trail goes straight up and there’s no shade, but a cool view of the city

Nice, quiet and peaceful walk.

This was a great trail to get the lungs pumping. Unfortunately in this area, foggy conditions can prevent you from being able to take in the potentially amazing views. Not many people up there so it was great for some quiet time alone with nature. The trail’s rocks/gravel can be a bit slippery at times! My husband and I both had a few close calls where we almost fell on the way back down. I would hike it again but would aim for a day where there isn’t much fog (hard to find those days around here!)

Half of the big left loop is overgrown with probable poison oak in the area.....pants are necessary. It’s a cool area though, I would probably avoid that circular loop and stick to the more popular trails there.

Really nice trail. It's quite a climb, but the path is very well kept and easy to follow. Quite rocky so wear hiking shoes if you have them.

Beautiful trail with lovely wild flowers. The trail is overgrown in sections and the entry is pretty steep.

Ran this with much ease. The incline is pretty gradual so it wasn’t much challenge reaching elevation. Some parts of the trail were overgrown so I recommend wearing/bringing pants. Also bring a windbreaker or a light jacket if you plan on hanging out near the top, as it may get windy and chilly there (was for me).

A lot of poison oak along the trail on the north slope. Still very wet and muddy. Banana slugs and ferns along the drainage.

Nice challenge and lots of views but very windy on the ridge trail. The summit loop trail was great—not too windy and pretty. I’ll come back for the loop trail but probably won’t do this route again.
