Best off road driving trails in San Bernardino National Forest, California

Please check here for updates: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sbnf/alerts-notices Cleghorn Ridge Trail is a technical dirt trail open to off-highway vehicles (OHV) in the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California. The trail runs from the Cleghorn off-ramp on Interstate 15 (i-15) in Cajon Pass over Cleghorn Ridge to State Highway 138 at Lake Silverwood. Once on the trail, off-roaders can choose between a scenic fire road or a 4x4 trail. The trail offers great desert and mountain views including a ridge top view of Mount Baldy.Show more

A high clearance vehicle is recommend for this road. It is not recommended to attempt this route without lifts and tires that are ok with off camber, steep trail. Please note: off line map is recommended to get oriented as several users have reported that this trail is not well marked and/or that there may be poor cell reception in this area. Show more

The route is a little rocky in the beginning but nothing too crazy and once you past that part, it's pretty much easy. The road is narrow in some parts, but has some turn outs. Once you get to the top, the road widens up and you get a really nice view! Show more

Trail is primarily used by off road drivers. There are a couple spots you you definitely need more than stock clearance and rear lockers are helpful. Half way through there’s a nice V’d rock drop that plays with your mind more than your rig. All in all very fun moderate trail which can be made more difficult if you want it to be. This will also drop you into John Bull. Scenic views of Big Bear Lake and you end up in Holcomb Valley, which is great for camping.Show more
