Pretty straightforward trail. Some uphill in the beginning, then flat. The second half is pretty exposed. Nice group campground

Good little trail for a solid trail run! Hit and miss on shade but otherwise the view of Diablo at the “summit” is very pretty. Would recommend going clockwise as I passed no one going that way, everyone I saw on the trail was going counterclockwise.

Awesome hike this evening. Not crowded and plenty of wildlife to see: snake, coyote, bunny and a cute baby tarantula.

I hike about once or maybe twice a week - I would classify this one as 'hard'. You have a smooth up/down hike at the beginning.... and then the steady incline starts.... and it doesn't stop until you get to the top (50% of the total hike). I had to rest at least 1/2 dozen times just to catch my breath on the way up. But, having said that it did get my heart pumping (and pumping...and pumping...) and the rest was all downhill. Views are 'okay' - dry hills this time of year and didn't see any wildlife. Shade is minimal. I might do this one again, but it won't be for a while. Took us (two over 60 youngsters) 2 hrs. 40 min to complete.

HikingNo shade

We started on the Miwok trail. It started out with some shade, then progressed to a hillside, uphill portion that has no shade when we turned onto the Hardy Canyon trail. Then we had another shady portion in the canyon and ended with some sunny downhill and shaded portion. It took just over two hours with a 10 and 13 year old with me. It was pretty hot on the exposed parts. Very dry and sandy this time of year.

wonderful country side hike. widelife (ground squirrel, Raven, blue jay, etc.). Nice panorama too. A bit hard for our 8yo but doable. bring LOTS of water.

Nice hike, pretty gentle incline, majority of the hike had minimal shade. There are farm animals, with a couple of fences and a moderate amount of horse poo on the trail. Parking lot was pretty full but felt like the only ones on the trail for the majority of it. Nice views of the hills and farm lands.

HikingClosed

This would be a nice trail if it wasn’t closed going into the watershed like another hiker pointed out already. It’s just 1.1 miles and jumping the fence would be easy but I didn’t. It looks like it’s been close for a while and rather permanent. And this seems to be the only trail that goes over to the reservoir so you’ll have to stay on the Morgan Territory side.

This is a great trail to get your heart pumping! If you take this trail clockwise, the first part is fairly shaded, and as you come out of the trees, the view is stunning! It’s an easy hike back down for the remainder of the loop. If you’re looking for a few extra miles, connect to the Murphy Meadow loop to make a figure eight. Watch out for the cattle!

Minimal inclines, mostly flat. I brought my hiking boots and had a steady easy pace. Next time I’m definitely bringing my trail running shoes, it’s perfect for running here. Parking lot is open during shelter in place and plenty of parking spots available. So cool to see families riding their horses on the trails. Only downside is no dogs allowed. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

what a beautiful hike! everything was soooo green. there were cows along the trail and a couple even came up close to us! we started the trail across the bridge straight forward through the gate. when you go this way you are going up all the really steep parts. holy cow was that a workout!! if you start to the left and down a bit after crossing bridge you will be coming down those really steep parts so its up to you and what you prefer. :) there was quite a few people out there...everyone staying a large distance from each other. restrooms are closed due to covid but the parking was open. take lots of water especially on warm days...lots of sunny areas. enjoy and have a safe hike!!

This was a great trail for a morning hike. I’d recommend starting early, because once you get to the meadow portion, there is NO shade. Lots of cows on and around the trail, so there were points we had to go off trail to avoid potentially getting charged by the mamas. Cute babies, though!

HikingBugsOff trail

Beautiful trail! You can see cows up close, some even began to walk the trip behind us. Went off trail about a bit accidentally lol but it was so worth it! We found a super swing on the way up the mountain. It was quite an experience to swing from such a high place with a view. We hiked up the mountain just to rest at the top before making our way back down. It was very steep. I suggest hiking shoes for the best drip & travel light. Overall very beautiful. The view from top of the mountain was amazing. We observed that a lot of groups were doing a lot of hiking off trail which is pretty cool & bold. Do know that the restrooms are closed due to COVID 19. But there is parking.
