Starts easy, begins to pitch up and switch back once you hit Sycamore Canyon. Trail breaks off from Old Boney Trail and is overgrown and narrow to top of Hill 1918, from there the trail follow a ridge but is really just a massive vertical scramble right up the ridge to the top where the High Cabin Trail comes in from the east. There are about 3 or 4 major sections of up and over to deal with. We're talking root-grabbing, branch ducking, long way down, look out for snakes on every ledge kind of good times. Since it is on sandstone it is pretty easy to get traction on the rocks, some of the slots can be tricky. OBTW, I would not want to attempt a descent on this section. I went back the High Cabin trail. Route around Tri-peak is sketchy as well, overgrown and difficult in spots. Once you get south of Tri-peak its easy hiking to Sandstone (Allen) Peak. Long hike with some difficult pitches but definitely worth the views! High Cabin Trail has a major washout right through the middle but is still preferable over descending the ridgeline.

Trail is over grown and full of rattle snakes. I’m sure it’s nice in the spring time but in July/August don’t even bother.

Only did part of loop due to high heat. Was enjoyable as easy trails go.

Poison oak everywhere near the falls. The trail was very overgrown but a nice workout. 3 stars mainly for the fact that the poison oak was unavoidable due to the overgrowth. My legs have been feeling it for over a week.

Some sections were really overgrown but overall this was a nice hike. The app did not take us to the actual parking lot so we tacked on an additional mile walking in. The waterfall was nice bit be careful for the poison oak which is plentiful near the stream and waterfall. This is not the most kid friendly hike due to the overgrowth and poison oak.

Went to waterfall. Next time I will: explore the area to see if there are Falls downstream from the crossing, instead of just upstream.

Very fun with little kids!

Beautiful easy trail. Lots of flowers.

One of my favorites. Easy and quite ;)

Beautiful, very green. waterfall running large. Two stream crossings, but passable. Two nice restrooms along way. Trail survived recent rains quite well.

Had a great time hiking this trail—super easy, great for trail running. There’s some water flowing and everything is so green after the recent rains!

Hiked this years and years ago, and it was spectacular. Caution the snakes sunning on the pathway!

The sweeping coastal plains are magnificent and the landscape is perfectly suited to equestrian activities. There are plenty of trails for hiking, biking, walking and riding. The way this area has been preserved makes you think about what the California coast used to look like. Truly beautiful. The trail for the hike has plenty of signs along the way and it is well-travelled - lots of families. The “waterfall” wasn’t more than a trickle today, so I would suggest visiting after a rain to see the waterfall in action. Plenty of frogs and tadpoles for the kids along the creek. The area is in recovery after the 2013 fire, so don’t expect a lot of old, dense growth. It’s all fairly new growth that is green, but needs another 5 years to fill out. If you’re looking for a nice coastal hike, check it out.

Nice and smooth loop

This place is great for mountain biking or horseback riding. For hiking which is what I do I found this place to be quite boring. Except for the wild flowers there is nothing interesting about this hike. As far as hiking is concerned I give this place 2 out of 5 stars.

Many dog friendly options. Some trails had little incline. Very nice and quiet easy hike.

It was 95 today and dry as a bone. It appeared to be one giant fire hazard also the Chumash center only open on weekends. It was so hot we only did to the Chumash center and back. 2 adults and 2 Kiddos

Hiked to the non existent waterfall today. It was NOT an easy hike. A few sections were easy but most of the hike traversed somewhat steep inclines. Bring more than one water bottle. You'll probably need at least two water bottles for the round trip. Nonetheless, the hike provides views of beautiful rolling hills and forested ravines.

I quickly came to realize the importance of being able to read a map because I turned a 3 mile easy hike into an 8 mile moderate to difficult hike. However, it was well worth it! As you can tell from my photos, there was plenty to see.
