good tough hike.started late - around 730 and the weather was quite humid in the early part. it was quite draining and by the time we hit the black mountain trail it became really tough. on a spring or winter day would have be a good hike.
went counterclockwise and that was better since the PGE trail is attracts heavy traffic in mornings. there is a lot of parking but they all get filled up by 7. so plan on street parking and adding another 1.5 miles of hike. the PGE trail is a long fire road and for serious hikers will not be enjoyable with the constant hum of the transmission line. Not on my top 10 list of bay area hikes but will return some time in winter or spring

Felt like hard tho had lots of fun. Saw wild fox.

First mile very strenuous. Highly recommend the Black mountain trail off of Rhus Ridge

nice hike. better to do early on hot day.

My daughter loved the animals. We would definitely do this hike again just to visit with them.

Great hike, though both the PG&E and Chamise trails are pretty exposed, so make sure to dress appropriately and bring plenty of water.

Great running trail. Beautiful views and some nice shady parts. Nice uphill +downhill combo.

Completed within 3 hours. Many zigzags and wildflowers! An enjoyable and energizing trail.

A enjoyable loop with elevation and more sun exposure in the first half (PG&E, Upper High Meadow)., There is a vista point at top with great scenery - a good spot to take a rest!
I completed the entire loop within 3-4 hours.

Great hike with a good amount of shade. Lots of up and down slopes which provides a substantial work out. Relatively popular but not overly crowded. Parking is a challenge so do beware.

Completed the trail with my 9 year old. Was a beautiful experience. Lower wildcat loop trail was closed due to mountain lion sighting.

Less crowded than some parts of this park, pretty good views

Great hike, done it 2 weekends in a row! We continue 2 miles up (4 miles extra) to Black Mountain peak.

Sunny hike. Not a lot of elevation. My experience in the link below.

I run a shorter loop of this trail. It’s 5 miles and I love the way it flows. The view from the top is incredible.

Amazing wildlife! This particular loop is one of the more strenuous hikes at Rancho San Antonio, but it’s well worth the effort. Some of the trail sections are steep, but at no point is scrambling necessary. Pack lots of water and plan for between 6-7 hours to finish the trail if you aren’t a crazy speed-hiker. There is a nice bench at the top of the trail where you can enjoy views and a lunch.

Excellent trail for moderate hiking. Signs are a bit confusing so make sure to keep a close watch on the signs.

This was my first hike after 7 years break. I could able to complete the hike. Nice scenic view in between the hike . Definitely will go again..

The trail was beautiful and it was nice for a Sabbath walk/hike. The hikes/walks are different from the hikes I like to do on any other day of the week. I actually slow down on Sabbath. It was my first time there, I will go back. The farm was a cute unexpected surprise on the walk. ☺
The advice I can give is, go early it was hard to find parking, it was full.

An amazing trail, but not recommended for new hikers based on the elevation gain. Make sure you hike all the way up and take a left on Montebello Road to get to the rocky area. Enjoy :)

Very good hike heights, love it

Just a pretty little stroll through the woods, easy and the farm is such a COOL place to take your kids, especially in the Spring. All the baby animals are out and they are so fun to watch. If you have kiddies, grab a pack and some snacks and take them here. Leave no trace, please!

The PGE trail is a service road, not a trail, so be prepared for steep, exposed, and not real fun, but some good views. The high meadow trail is beautiful, definitely will do again. This loop is hot and exposed, bring plenty of water. Was so disappointed to see lots of food litter on the trail. Leave no trace, please!!

The Black Mountain peak was closed - thank you Mr and Mrs Lions - but it was still a great outdoors to take Rhus Ridge to Black Mountain Trail to Rogue Valley Trail all the way to San Antonio and back. About 12 miles out and back with small amount of elevation change leading to under 20 minute pace (and walk by Deer Hollow Park). Start early.

parking is really bad. get there early!!

It’s a very beautiful hike. This hike has elevation change upto 2000ft. There might be wild life on the way to hike, turkeys , deer etc.

Might be a little tough on a hot day. Take plenty of water.

Nice moderate hike with lots of interesting wild flowers along the way. Scenic view of the valley. The Deer Hollow Farm at the end was a nice touch with all the baby goats and sheeps. Overall, great hike for family!

Sweet trail. You should go counterclockwise and definitely don’t skip going to the top of black mountain.

Excellent hike, to the top of Black Mountain about 12 miles..steep at some points, very good workout to get ur endurance up...well worth it to reach the top, the view is amazing.
