We’ve hiked here twice and this is definitely one of the prettiest trails we’ve ever been to! The wild flowers at time of the year are unreal! Highly recommended in any time of the year, but especially spring time!

Got there around 9:30 on a Saturday which was good to avoid major crowds. Wind in the beginning was super strong and cold. Trail started to warm up halfway through, wildflowers are head-high and really overgrown so walking through them was a trip. Views were beautiful and got to see multiple herds of elk.

An easy going trail with slight elevation gains and descents. Plan on hiking 10 miles plus as the trail is marked for 9.4 round trip. Add a few tenths for exploration. It was gusting 20-30 mph on April 30th. Tons of waist to chest height flowers to walk through towards the end of the point. Had a blast taking photos of all the Tule Elk. Will definitely be back when the flowers bloom again. Will be posting photos soon.

Better than any picture or words can describe.

love this combination of trails - challenging, beautiful.

Great trail. Beautiful views. Loved seeing the elk, coyotes and wildflowers along the way. Only downside was that I went on a Saturday morning and there were a lot of people on the trail.

Awesome loop, especially if you op for meadow trail. Has a nice ascend

Me and my wife did this hike on a Monday afternoon, so not crowded at all. GORGEOUS views at first, but ironically enough, a thick fog rolled in later in the evening as we were heading back. There are beautiful wildflowers all along the trail as well as many many elk that seemed to not be fazed by hikers. The trail is very well maintained except for the last mile or so. And make sure to wear long pants or boots. There is quite a bit of loose sand on the trail that filled my tennis almost instantly.

Perfect afternoons weather

Amazing wildlife here - saw about 100 he'll, salamanders, a gopher, a bunch of birds, a seal - wildflowers, beautiful cliffs - wonderful all around

Beautiful hike, lots of flowers and tule elk. VERY busy trail

Big fan of this hike. I usually start just before sunrise. Beating the influx of hikers ensures you'll see the elk still resting pretty much everywhere along with coyotes, owls and several other animals. Shhhh, don't tell nobody! :)

We started around 1pm on Saturday, the traffic was quite heavy, but the views totally still worth it. We went with 2 little kids, the first 1-2 miles are quite manageable and you still get to see a lot. We saw lots of elks and wildflowers, gorgeous! The wind can get strong sometimes, so make sure to dress properly.

Pretty beautiful

My friend and I did this hike last month with weighted vests.
It was very mild, although my big o' hiking boots were probably too heavy for walking in sand.
We started while it was still pitch black and didn't see anyone until a mile or 2 headed back.
There is an insane amount of elk and some foxes and deer.
The flowers were beautiful. We even got some light rain, so it was wonderful!

Do this hike now, while the wildflowers are in bloom!

If you go on a weekend, start early to avoid crowds. We left at 9AM and enjoyed walking through the fog as it burned off. Passed only a few people on the way in. The last quarter of the hike (around 11:30), the trail had become unpleasantly crowded.

We are fit backpackers and finished the trail in 3 hours and 10 minutes.

Amazing hike! A family favorite.

amazing hike, start early to avoid the crowds

Good solid hike, made it all the way to the point! Definitely with the hike, a bit windy and definitely no cover from the sun... at the end there is a bit of sand to trudge through so be ready for that... not too busy went on a weekday, will definitely do it again

One of the funniest trails I have explored thus far. Plenty of Tule Elk as advertised and a plethora of wildlife to see!

Beautiful hike! It delivered the marvelous views as advertised.. On a clear blue day the colors were unbelievable and the rich variety of vegetation and wildlife were glorious. We saw elk, bobcat, jackrabbit, and lots of birds. Wild strawberries in bloom, California poppies, irises, and other wildflowers. The trail was pretty packed- Presidents Day, and the wind was wicked strong and cold. Definitely needed a lot of layers. Really wished I had a hat or hood.

While this trail is one of the more popular and busy trails in the park it really is a great one to try if you want to really experience what Point Reyes has to offer all in one place. The hike begins at an old farm house and after about a quarter mile later you are overlooking beautiful vistas of the sea cliffs. You'll encounter many different types of wild life on the hike as there are roaming elk packs and many different types of birds flying around. The hike is pretty easy/moderate as the 1200 ft elevation gain is spread out over a couple rolling hills along the 9.5 mile in and out trail. The trail is well defined and easy to follow but suffers a lot of erosion in places and at certain points becomes sandy. this hike is usually windy and there is almost no tree cover for shade.

We loved this hike and got so many opportunities to see elk, hawks (and various other birds), and other little critters. Definitely bring sunscreen and/or a hat as the trail overs very little coverage. I rated this trail a 4 because although the views were stunning, the out-and-back nature of this hike made the terrain a little boring and the uphill terrain made it difficult to really enjoy the views at every moment. I wouldn’t consider the terrain difficult by any means, but the length of the trail may make this one a bit more difficult for those looking for quick weekend adventure. The great thing about out-and-backs though is that you can always cut the hike to your desired length!

The weather was perfect and beautiful view all the way. Most of hiking were flat walking but we had some up the hill. It totally worth it the effort.

Amazing views of wildlife and protected vast open land surrounded by cliffs and rolling hills. Did this on a sunny day, so no complaints. Highly recommended.
