I really enjoyed this hike, the ascent is gradual, the trail is wide enough, and the vistas are amazing.

Great ride with views

My friends and I met at 8am in an overcast and very foggy morning. We were attacked by a swarm of very aggressive black mosquitoes in the parking lot, by the trail head. I immediately used Deep Woods insect repellent towelettes but it was not enough. They covered our clothing, backpack, hair, and bit my friends and I through our clothing and anywhere my wipe didn't swipe. We ran out to PCH where another friend kept a bottle of repellent spray in the car, and we covered each other. We then hiked past the trail head to higher ground as fast as we could. As we got above the fog, we left the swarm. The trail is a steady smooth climb all the way up 2.7 miles, offering spectacular views. The fog below rewarded our efforts with great photos! I would do it again, just be armed and prepared next time!

Nice, easy hike with ocean views. My 7 year old was able to do the trail with no problems.

Ive been going to the canyon since late 80's. It's a real popular place.

Went on this hike yesterday, under overcast skies most of the way. Easy hike but ran into mosquitos about 2/3’s up the trail. Bring your bug spray! Nice views but no wildflowers this time of year.

Mosquitos!!!! I have welts all over my body. We had to turn back. I got bit at least 10 times within 5 min. Tried to go on but the bites flared up and I was miserable. But it’s beautiful here. I’m sure it’s an awesome trail

Too many rocks on the trail but the trail is really clean and the views are amazing! It gets a bit dangerous towards the top. You’ll have to climb the rocks so be careful! As for parking, there’s a parking lot across the entrance of the trail and it’s free.

Such a lovely introduction into my first day of camping at Point Mugu! Even with the clouds blanketing a majority of this hike, the trail itself (at least the visible pieces) were beautiful and what I could make out below from above was also stunning. I didn't loop it as the final decline looked steep and was thick with clouds. Definitely again!

Nice place to hike. Scenic trail is single track and a bit steep in parts, but definitely do-able for most. Overlook trail to top is mostly fire road. Pay to park is $12 all day or $3 an hour at pay machine.

Intense yet beautiful!! Worth every step of the way up!!!

Trails on trails. Good view for the majority of hike

Nice views and ocean breezes, lots of bees and active hives though, its a shame it burned up...

Nice trail that climbs up with views of the ocean and welcome cool breezes. The trail is well maintained. Good family hike. Port-a-potties and picnic benches at trailhead.

The hike up from main Sycamore trail is heavily overgrown until you get out of the creek bed. Then it opens up. Did the entire Serrano loop back to Sycamore, then about three miles down the main trail to the campground.
Lots of spider webs across the trail on the way back down. Over 90 degrees up there today

We went counter clockwise and had a relatively flat trail for about 4 miles. We ended up going on Wood Fire Trail which had a long steep incline. After we made it to the top we had a heck of a view in all directions. We finished the 10.2 mile Loop in about 2:51.

Beautiful views, beautiful wildflowers. No shade - bring sunscreen!

Great trail. Hiked while camping at Thronhill Brome beach. Early morning the trial was empty, marine layer kept temps cool and stellar views and wildflowers. Moderate incline the whole trail very pleasant to hike.

Biggest lizards I’ve ever seen on a trail! Views are amazing, be prepared for switchback hell

Really enjoyed this. Challenging, beautiful views & well-marked trails. Took my little chihuahua with me and had a blast. Not very packed on the day I went (monday afternoon). Go to the tippy top to see the statue. The rock can be challenging to scale but both my chihuahua and I did it just fine.

Great hike. Not too hard and gorgeous views. No shade so glad I did it before summer.

Fast fire road. Nothing special, but has access to many other MTB and hiking trails. Excellent for beginner riders and hikers. When starting from the Potrero side, you'll have a couple hundred foot climb at the end.

Pretty easy hike. First few miles are uphill. Great views, lots of wildflowers, beautiful!! Lots of mountain bikers...all friendly and courteous sharing the trail.

Easy and great ! Great view

Beautiful and fun

Nice beginner X-country type mountain bike trail. Nice climb up to about 1100ft or so, then you get to shred down Backbone. Fast and flowy.

I've hiked this route as well when I don't have time for anything else. If you're a beginner or only hike in the Santa Monicas, this would probably be considered "moderate". But if you frequent the San Gabes or San Bernardinos, this trail will be quite easy. Good place to get your feet wet with trail running as well!

Crowded, but scenic. Watch out for other bikers and hikers.

Fantastic trail. Gradual incline to the top. Very easy hike. Stunning views of the ocean throughout the entire hike. Ocean breeze and sounds and sight of the ocean all the way to the top of the mountain. This hike will not disappoint!!!

Great trail to run and hike. I suggest to bring at least 1-2 water bottles per person. Great views on the ocean too. The sad thing is that no dogs are allowed on this fun hike. Did this hike in around an hour. There’s also a lot of lizards so be careful where you’re stepping especially when you’re doing a running hike. Also check the weather and wind for some clear days. It’s very kid friendly too. But be careful since the peak is a little steep and narrow. It’s a little overgrown too in the beginning. Parking has to be payed too.
