on Feather Falls Loop Trail

I had a fabulous time today Saturday 08/17/19 !!! Reviews helps a lot. A hot day & I ran out of water ... but I am 15 mins to my car. The lower trail which says closed ... was not so that’s what I took to the waterfall. !!!

There was no "creek" visible for any part of the NE section that we hiked from the Lodge Road. Very "woodsy" but not much to see.

My hardtail made the ascent a bit tricky, but the DH was a lot of fun.

Trails were beautiful from the Domingo Springs trailhead today but we found if more than 3 horses in the string it stirs up the bees and they attack you. We encountered three separate incidents on the trail with bees.

Trail is well maintained, very nicely marked. I hiked up to the falls overview only (didn’t go to the water). Most of the trail was under canopy, which made it a lot easier due to the high temperatures. The view from the overview is stunning!!!!

Did this hike on the 08th of August 2019. I suggest to start early, especially if you want to visit Gold Lake after the hike to Spanish creek (i highly recommend it). We just met some people on the pct route, besides that we were alone. The hike is very diverse, starting from silver lake, passing through a rocky landscape over to the ridge, which is covered by big trees, the trail terminates at rocky peak. You can enjoy an amazing view of nice summits to the far East and beautiful Green Mountains straight ahead. Enjoy it! Take twice as much water as you think you will need.

Nice easy hike. Nothing epic but nice for a fairly short stroll.

Great day trip with easy hiking.

Great unplanned day hike can’t go wrong in the lakes basin area.

Super easy morning walk enjoyed by everyone from a 2 year old to two 72 year olds. Senior dogs also managed it easily. Great views along the way. Thanks to the Lions Club and volunteers for establishing such an accessible path.

So much in three miles! Three lakes, wildflowers, fishing, a good swim. Lovely.

The hike itself is rather uneventful, mostly rolls through a forest and near a few streams. The falls are incredible! Very hot in the afternoon and a fair number of mosquitos. Drank 2+ liters of water.

Do not go to this trail! It is no longer accessible. Local residents have put up cattle gates on both sides of the trail head. One of the roads is so awful that even 4wd SUV’s in our group had trouble navigating it just to get to a gate and have to turn back around and go back down the same horrible road.

The lower loop had a sign that said it was closed for maintenance. A tree fell over the trail, but the tree had been removed already. There was another part of the trail that was extremely sandy, but it was not a reason I think they should have closed the trail for. The lower trail took 2 hours to reach the falls. I took the upper trail on the return back and it took an extra 20 minutes.

Hiked with my 45lbs daughter on my back. Little tougher than I expected, but a lot of beautiful views.

Great trail to the lake. definitely bring boots.

First time ever hiking the pct it was amazing! Did 20 miles will say bring the bug spray!! Mosquito hell!

Poorly managed. The owner/manager is rude, unprofessional and really difficult to reach. This place is by appointment only, and supposedly you can either text or call her to arrange a visit. She doesn't answer, or respond to texts. I attempted to visit last week, but she didn't respond. I was nearby, so I decided to drop by. She treated me as if I was a huge imposition. She chewed me out for showing up unannounced (along with another couple who showed up at the same time, also unannounced because this lady wouldn't respond to texts) and then tried hiking up the fee from what people were saying is 5.00, to 15.00. And of course, she's old, so she only takes cash. I'm sure the springs are nice, the campground there is not.

Stellar views along this trail but the real views are at the end.

Great hike, challenging. Little overgrown in some spots and the wood bridge needs to be fixed and redone but other than that it was an amazing trail and worthwhile.

Easy walk on paved trail. The falls aren’t ripping right now, but still cool to see.

I didn’t do this trail because I got sick on my trip to California. However, I drove to the lake and it is absolutely beautiful, the area is covered by big pine trees, even on the weekend the lake was very empty, I just saw 2 small boats from very far way. My kid had fun playing in the water!

Excellent day for hiking. Saw 3 bucks in velvet and a doe. Got there early and finished the hike by an adult beverage at the Graeagle Lodge!

One of my favorite trails! So many lakes and wildflowers, just awesome!! It’s a bit rocky so i recommend taking hiking stick with you!

Amazing wild flowers - a local said in 45 years he’d never seen flowers like today

Beautiful views as you walk the loop up and around the lake. The trail on the south side is a bit over grown and steep. I’m not sure if I would rate the loop trail as easy unless you are just going to the lake. Three water crossings and it’s nice to have walking sticks if you go on the south side.

Loved it!! Worth every step! The sign said lower Trail was closed but its not. We went up upper Trail and came back lower. Not sure how the lower trail is all up hill??? Now that we know the signs were wrong, Definitely go up the lower Trail and come back on the upper. Stayed at the upper pools passed the top waterfall perfect day for a swim!
