Decent hike, not quite what it was hyped as. Wouldn’t necessarily classify as easy - the western part of the loop of the lake is “unmaintained” as a sign on a log points out. The elevation was real too! Nevertheless, if looking for a quick moderate hike with a nice lake view, this is a good option!

Perfection. One of my favorites. Gets a bit crowd in summer though. Parking extremely difficult! Beware of naked sunbathers! They are out when sun is shining.

Beautiful hike. Definitely hike the ridge above the Lake. Frost side of the mountain trail is still snowed in as of 4/26/18.

Beautiful little lake at the bend of the loop, beautiful views all around

Great hike! A few snow areas that are iced over and you need have the right foot gear with you. A few trails are under a few inches of water, but you can maneuver around most of them.

This trail is beautiful. However, as of Nov 25, 2017, we found several patches of the trail under snow. This made it hard to follow the trail. But this trail is breathtaking.

i think anywhere out here in this area is gorgeous, all trails worth it! we encountered quite a bit of snow Nov 25,2017 post holing occasionally but it's still worth it!

Got a light dusting of snow this morning. Trail was still easy to navigate. Stunning views. Hard to beat.

What a great day. Doing this one again for sure. Maybe hiking boots next time.

Great trail. No major inclines or declines with good variety of scenery. Completed in late september with some snow on the ground with a group 25 people ages ranging from 6-70 year old hikers without any problems.

Great trail. Amazing sights and wonderful lakes!

Great section with some awesome ridge line walking. Got it class of 2017.

Wonderful hike! Beautiful views at every turn. Great for 2 active Border Collies with lots of water to drink and swim in.

Beautiful scenery and lakes to swim in. Good for kids and dogs.

Great hike. my 4 yr olds first backpacking trip. we camped at long lake eventhough it was "restricted". my son was too tired to hike out. this would have been nice to know before we got uo there.

Great views and varied terrain. Highly recommend!

The initial accent is not "easy".

This trail is beautiful. The first stretch in Lassen NP really shows the devastation of forest fires. Few things are growing and it has been 4 years. Thanks to all the trail maintainers out there!

OMG. Thanks to nature my family and I had a blast. This was all of our first time hiking. The trails were beautifully maintained and was an amazing place to hike with dogs and kids. We have a large family of 5 and we brought our 2 hyper dogs (off leash) and my 3 young children. The trails were very easily visible to see everyone in our group and it was perfect for the kids and dogs to roam and run. The trail was wide enough and very comfortable for people who are not comfortable with the heights. There were quite a few people and other dogs as well as kids but everyone was extremely friendly and patient when we were slacking and not moving fast enough. In some spots there were a few creeks that you either had to walk through or on rocks to get over but it is extremely safe for everyone. It was gorgeous and absolutely breathtaking. I did add some pictures of the paths and views. There are tons of butterflies and toward the end there were a small family of deer. There were tons of signs so you don't get lost and it gives you many options on where to go. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to do this hike. By the way there were tons of elderly people so my point is, if they can do it so can you. My husband and I are also obese and it was perfect for us too

Very nice trek! Beautiful scenery. Quite a few other people, but not too bad.

Nice trail and lots to see. Not too bad of a hike and well worth the trip. The access road to Silver Lake could definitely use some maintenance. Lots of ruts and rocks. No ok for small cars with no clearance. When you reach Gold lake I advise to camp around the east side of the lake as you won't be bothered by day hikers coming up from the car campgrounds at Silver Lake. All in all a good trip

Some shade, but wear sun screen.

Good trail for children, but a little bit easy for an adult. Took my toddler with me and he was worn out but not much of a view. Very shady and even saw a beautiful Doe.

Gorgeous views, wonderful hike.
Depending on time of year it can be very windy. Carry plenty of water for the backside as the only access to the lake is a short distance.

horseback riding

What a beautiful trail which follows along the shore line most of the way. Right hand creek crossing is good for hikers to cross but not for horseback riders. If Im riding i drop back down the trail and use the lower crossing in the creek where the rocks are smaller with a gravel base. This section needs to have some branches cut back but you can cross here safely with horses. Note: if the lake is full it will make it harder to see or to cross this section until later in the summer. However if you do cross you will come out just a few yards from Right Hand Creek trail that leads to Bucks Summit. If you continue along the lake it will take you to Mill Creek where again you will have a creek crossing, follow the trail on the other side to mill Creek campground or turn right uphill continuing your trip on the mill creek trail to the PCT / Tree Lakes. Beautiful country with few people on the trail.
