We did a 3.5 miles. There are a lot of trail options to pick from. Lots of area with no shade. I would consider this a moderate level hike. Dogs and Bikes are welcomed. AMAZING views!

Great trail if you’re looking for a Leisurely Hike/walk that’s not difficult. Great views of the ocean 90% of the time. Only down side is there is minimal shade so bring a hat and wear sunscreen. We went on a Saturday and the trail was pretty busy but not too bad. Parking is very limited and we had to park at the base on the other side of the freeway which was about an extra 5-10min walk but not bad and they are adding sidewalks. Beware they do give out tickets for those who are not pulled all the way off of the pavement or illegally parked.

Who said this was easy? It's definitely a medium, to get to the top is a minor work out. Where is the easy part?

Fun trail with my folks and our two kids ages 7 and 8. About 4 miles round trip. Beautiful views, up and down hills, shady oaks.

Congratulations to the Land Conservatory of San Luis Obispo for an absolutely gem of a new trail system. Today we finished the Discovery Trail including the Peekaboo Loop. We have hiked pretty much all of SLO county trails and though there are some fantastic trails, none surpass Pismo Preserve. If you want bone grinding hills and really hard challenges then this trail system is not for you. But if you want stunning views, a wide variety of meadows and oak groves, modest hill trails and an interlocking trail variety then you’ll love this new trail system. We’ve been waiting and now so glad it’s open. Bravo!

went on the Discovery trail. 5.2 miles, over 700 ft. elevation gain, very comfortable incline/decline, easily manageable, magnificent views of the ocean, rolling hills, oak trees; some shade, mostly sunny, no rocks on the trail, narrow. trails are shared with mountain bikers. overall a very pleasant experience and a good but not overwhelming workout

This is a great loop, but it's not the official "Lone Oak Loop" trail.

great trail, very busy, you may habe to park down the street. but doing part on the side of the road, or else you'll get a ticket, park in the ocean viewing parking lot on the other side of the freeway. they have a good map to download and the markers are very helpful. lots of different trails to choose

Discovery loop from shell beach.

Awesome and green this time of Year!

Great trail! Yesterday was the Grand Opening. Pismo Preserve is now open from 6am to 7pm daily. It’s a great place to hike as the trails all have very gradual incline that bring you up to breathtaking ocean views as you round each bend. I would say that this is definitely the best, most easily accessible bunch of trails in SLO County. Having restrooms is also a huge plus!

The Pismo Preserve will open on January 25th 2020 at 6 AM (weather dependent).

The last hike of my SLO County days and offers a pretty scenic view. The trail itself isn't maintained and is really steep and loose in some spots initially but improves once you get up to the top. From what I saw it goes all the way down to pirates cove. Parking isn't available so you have to find a spot in the nearby neighborhood.

Breath taking views, moderate level trails, many resting points, all around fabulous!

Currently closed to the public

Looks like the trail is closed. No trespassing signs everywhere.
