Nice hike, wouldn't recommend for families with small children. Lots of folks hiked and had a picnic in a quiet place wish I had taken some food to sit, enjoy the view, and eat. Do this as a first hike if needed in morning. It will warm you up for the day.

There is a sign (photo uploaded) where the trail splits from Valley View. They are reconstructing the entire trail. Expected complete early 2019.

A great short hike with a beautiful view of the valley at the top!

Morning trail run before exploring the rest of Big Sur. Bummed that the Pfeiffer waterfall trail was closed but easy run with a view worthy of the effort.

Nice and easy stroll uphill

Nice trail. Steep in some spots. can be slick after it rains. Nice views of the valley and out to the ocean.

Beautiful view. As of 1.28.18 the waterfall was blocked off for maintenance.

A great hike. The SP web site says it's closed now (Feb 2018). Does anyone know if that's a seasonal closure and it will be open again in the summer, or if it's more long-term?

The view is ok, hike is moderate as expected.

Pretty hike starting in the redwoods and ascending steeply into oaks. The waterfall trail is closed so it’s a quick 2 mile in and out trail.

Great trail if you're looking for a quick and fairly easy hike in Big Sur. We were running out of daylight so we chose this trail. We reached the top of the overlook right as the sun was setting. Wasn't crowded at all, we did it November 11th and the weather was perfect!

Nice at the top

Nice trail. Beautiful at the top

Really nice trails, well cleared and well marked. Gorgeous waterfall and stunning views! (Edit - I believe it is closed now)

Trail closed 6/10/17

Left 4 stars because it's normally a great hike.

Very beautiful trail that leads to a lovely waterfall which makes for a great way to splash yourself and cool off from the short hike. Nice place to relax and have lunch! :D

Awesome hike to rejuvenate & get centered.

The uphill is a bit of a workout !! Mostly shaded and offers a cool overlook of the valley.

This is a pretty trail but when I went it had a lot of trash (be a Good Samaritan and pick some up peeps!!) The waterfall itself was smaller than I expected but it is still worth hiking to. This hike is a a decent uphill until you reach the trail head for the falls where it gets more downhill.

Great hike with plenty of level ground and up hill climbing. Lots of wildlife and people so you are not alone on the trail. The water fall is decent however lots of bugs when you get there so it's hard to enjoy the falls for long. Parking in the hotel lot near the end was fine, they didn't tow us.

Trail is washed out and you must bolder jump to get to Gorge. If you are camping at the park, it is best to access through the campsite trail.

Short hike with beautiful view of falls.

For our first hike in Big Sur, myself and my wife thoroughly loved it an easy and enjoyable hike for two beginners

I'd call this a warm up hike. Wakes up your muscles and gets the blood flowing, but short enough to bring the whole family. Bring your camera! Beautiful waterfall and blue jays in the trees.

Sweet Jesus I wasn't ready for the steep incline. Heavy traffic in the beginning but thins out toward the top. It was hazy at the top but still beautiful nonetheless. FYI: You get cell phone reception at the sign.

The falls were pretty underwhelming considering the work to hike the trail. The trail is heavily packed so don't be surprised if you brush up against other people when passing. Still glad I did it.

Unfortunately this was more of our rest stop before we headed to 17-mile drive. We didn't get to fully explore, but it left a lasting impression!
