magical lands do exist

Crowded and heavily trafficked. There is a reservation fee and an entrance fee you must pay before arriving this park. The trees are magnificent to view but the crowd does ruin the peacefulness of Muir Woods. Right now, there’s a lot of trail maintenance going on so it’s not the most quiet if you’re looking for tranquility. Otherwise, it is a beautiful trail! Very easy to hike.

Very crowded and loud, due mostly to children. Hard to enjoy much, but a decent flat walk.

Such a beautiful trail! We hiked down from Bootjack, explored Muir Woods, and then hiked back out via Bootjack as well! Outside of Muir Woods we saw very few people! Total serenity! Highly recommend arriving early and getting down to Muir Woods before the crowds arrive! Nice cup of coffee from the Muir Woods Cafe with some homemade banana bread at the base of the redwoods made this trip a day to remember!

Beautiful, easy stroll through the towering redwoods. Go early to avoid the crowds. And please be respectful of the peaceful serenity of the forest. Some folks are way too loud and it really takes away from the experience.

Sigh, didn't realize it was $15 entrance fee. Also didn't realize you had to make a reservation (wasn't this way 5 years ago). Anyways we actually found a parking spot that was .4 miles away from Muir woods entrance, so that worked out, didn't have to take a shuttle. Once you enter it's very pedestrian, and once you actually get to the real hike it's just the same trees with elevation gain that is not rewarding. I'ma be real I'ma a hiking snob, I hiked 8 miles and didn't really enjoy it. If you like forests the entire hike same exact scenery maybe this is for you.

really happy to have taken the time to add this trail on to my trip to muir woods...this trail is an offshoot from the main boardwalk trail at the park. it was really peaceful to walk alongside the creek + escape the crowds. FYI the canopy trail component was closed which is how we tried to access this trail initially so this review is for the shorter loop you can begin to access later on (past cathedral grove)...it was gorgeous nonetheless and I'd love to come back and do this trail again in the fall or next spring.

the first leg is all on boardwalk and then the return has a small incline up to a flat trail for the return. while this hike was more a walk it is magical experience nonetheless to be right next to the towering tall redwoods. be aware that they have a renovation program going on right now in the creek for the coho salmon which was nothing bothersome but got a little loud later in the afternoon

Canopy route was closed.

Some of the trails were closed due to restoration. Beautiful hike with the family nonetheless.

No double/quad dipsea for me, just a stroll through the woods to hang out at the beach. Worth it, so much tougher than I thought it was going to be. It's not a mountain hike or anything, but it's pretty and it'll get your heart pumping if you're walking with somebody on a mission. It gets really hot, really consider your options for the return trip from the beach because we saw a lot of families struggling with those stairs heading into the woods from the beach. If you can't do it, take a bus or plan your shuttle options before hand.

Lots of trail splits so had to look at the map a lot (I’m an out of towner). Not crowded at all and trail was a nice combo of forrest and open areas. It was fun to go the the inn at the top.
