It’s nice beautiful trees

Nice, but more hyped up than imagined. Just about every hike in the area is similar unless you go far, and you can only look at the same tall trees so long before getting bored. California has many other, more exciting hikes, but if in SFO area, this is a decent area. Pain that you need to book in advance, bit keeps crowds of tourists out.

I was underwhelmed. Parking is a hassle and you have to pay ahead and come during your designated time slot. You can only see so many giant trees and the trails are a bit too manicured and landscaped to feel like an actual hike.

Really great hike! One of the best around. Only saw a few people on the trail and there is plenty of shade! We went in the morning and it was the perfect time. Saw some deer and a banana slug (watch out for them crossing the trail!) Most tourists do not usually hike and just check out the visitor center and around it. I recommend reserving parking in advance online, which is really all you have to worry about when going to Muir Woods.

Loved seeing the Big Red trees. Took the path leading up the hill. great little hike. 1st time had to park like a mile away... so get there early.

I hiked this trail for the first time in January and was so inspired by the beauty, I hiked the loop a second time. Definitely tired after 2 loops, but followed it by a great meal at BooKoo in Mill Valley. I’ve returned three times since because the trail views are lovely. In the summer, the amphitheater is used for live theater so we planned a day around it: We watched Mama Mia and then hiked...very fun. I felt safe hiking it alone, but use your own discretion.

Enjoyed this trail a lot! We went early but it was still very busy. We took some of the trails off of Muir Woods and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Beautiful trail! Accessible to everyone. BUSY and people are not as quiet or necessarily as respectful as they should be. You do need to reserve your parking space if you are thinking about driving over there. It costs $8. Loved that my husband could come with me. Hes not a hiker and he was easily able to do this. Gorgeous views.

Beautiful. Easy. Quiet. Away from the crowds.

Took the SF ferry to Saulsilito and the shuttle to the park. Make reservations early enough to get the time you want on the shuttle.

The main trail with the boardwalks is well done and really nice. We got there early 9:30 so not as many people as when we left around 2pm - busy.

Walked Bootjack trail towards the meadow. No one was in this trail due to the “beware of wasps” sign. We saw them but no issues.

We also did the Fern trail to lost trail to canopy trail which was great! A bunch of steps going up but a different perspective from the top of the forest than the bottom.

I did this trail with my daughters (15, 9). It is beautiful and peaceful away from the crowds. With kids, I am glad we went CCW around the loop. It is a steep climb the other way, and other families we met at the top were exhausted. The CCW loop is a nice steady climb up. The higher elevations of this trail give nice views, and it was a beautiful hike. However, you don’t need to go all the way up if your main goal is to see the redwoods. I am going back with my other 2 daughters, and will do it a little differently. I will start the CCW loop, but only climb 10-15 minutes to get a view from above. I will then go back down, and walk the Redwood Creek Trail to bridge 4 and return on the hillside trail.

My wife & I did the "Canopy View/ Lost/ Fern Creek Trails Loop" that was posted near the entrance of the National Monument area, close to the Visitor Center. The ~2.7km loop was moderately challenging with most of the first half being uphill. Lots of great views of the canopy before coming back down to the main area. We loved it! There were lots of other trail options and we'd love to go back!

One of my favorite hikes in mount tam. Perfect level of difficulty with some steep climbs, gorgeous views, and it’s a loop trail.

#1, get a reservation for parking.
#2, get here super early.
#3, download your maps.

If early, you can do the soon-to-be-crowded part first with relatively no one around. Which is nice. Once you are back on the trails you may not see anyone for a half-hour at a time.

This whole area is what you make of it. Bring your maps!

We did this route minus the Hillside Trail Loop and it can kick your ass if in average shape.

Amazing, and a reverent, quiet kind of a place. We hiked the bridge 4 to Hilltop Trail, and it was a nice 1.5 hour leisurely hike...

Had a great time on this trail. It was our second time hiking and it was definitely a challenge but 100% worth it for the beauty.

We started off this trail towards Mt. Tam East Peak last Sunday. Great Hike despite the struggle, the steep stairs & rocky areas. It sure did kicked our butts but it’s all worth it once you get to the peak with the panoramic view of the city and the view above the clouds! It’s just so magical! Im definitely coming back!

Good accessibility for wheelchairs; incredible opportunities for redwood viewing

Easy walk through the huge redwoods surrounding you. It’s definitely busy and not as peaceful as one would like since it can be crowded and people aren’t as quiet as they should be. But overall gorgeous.

Gorgeous! Can be pretty steep in some parts, but not too bad.

Nice hike and great payoff if you go slightly off trail on the Dipsea to see the views of the ocean.

Always beautiful and super crowded. Love this place but the crowds and parking make it tough.

Beautiful!! The old growth redwoods are huge and magical. I wouldn’t call this a trail since it’s more of a walk. Perfect for older parents/grandparents, wheel chair accessible, path is a wood boardwalk for the first half and a well groomed dirt trail for the second half of the loop back from the ‘4th bridge’. There are many places to sit and rest. Come early! Like arrive at 8:30 am early! Get your required parking reservation online. There are tons of crowds and you’ll have to wait for a parking spot to clear up (even with a reservation).

Great quick easy walk for a Sunday afternoon. Would do again for sure.

Decent trail. Would rate easy to moderate. Great views.
