Finally got it done! So rewarding. spectacular views, beautiful weather, a lot of people this time. It starts off on incline, and then goes down some. Do go down to Pirates Cove. Great little spot to take a break and eat something. But then know that you'll be going up for a while. Worth it!

Dipsea trail on a good day, you can see San Francisco Bay, angel island. I was a bit concerned with previous review when people say the view was not that impressive. I have hiked many coastal trails. I would say the view is quite decent. Not the best I have seen but still deserves four star. The trail as of today still has partial shutdown. So we did part of dipsea only to pantoll and from there took a different route to Muir wood visitor center. From the beach the beginning part of dipsea climb was pretty steep and rest of it is quite leveled.

This is a great trail if you’re in shape, lots of uphill climbs, steps, etc. definitely bring lots of water and get ready to enjoy the beautiful sea and forest sights!

Really nice hike with lots of shade and mostly well maintained trail. I did it counter-clockwise and it had some more strenuous climbs but very doable. Didn’t see many people along the trail but as a solo hiker I felt totally safe. Really amazing sunlight coming through the trees if you get an early start! I recorded it at nearly 7 hours and it took me just under 3 hours

Friday afternoon not too busy, Trail was an easy run in the forest among the giant trees. Have to have a parking permit before you get there, GOMUIRWOODS.COM, we had to backtrack to top of mountain to get permit, parking is very limited

Make sure to make a reservation! If you are driving to Muir Woods, you are required to have one in order to park. Spent a few hours at Muir Woods with a group of friends on my first trip to CA. The redwoods were absolutely stunning. This trail takes you uphill and past a few small waterfalls. Tons of great photo opportunities. Wear waterproof boots/shoes with good traction during the wet season, some parts were pretty muddy.

I love this place

Beautiful trail! So lush, and we lucked out getting to see loads of mushrooms in all varieties, and unique species we’d never seen before! Will definitely be back!

great trail, well signed and we'll maintained. bunch of people at the beginning near the visitor center but pretty empty once you get out past the first half hour

Multiple trail closures so actual route will take 5.2 miles. Totally worth it though. Quick workout.

Beautiful but very short and trafficked area. Air is fresh and some of the tallest trees you'll ever see. Note that there is no cell reception in this area

Started at Muir Woods to Stinson Beach and back. It was HOT! But a really fun hike. The beach was a nice stopping point to hit the ocean and cool off. I would do this hike again, but pack for a long one.

loved the views on this hike. in the early morning a portion of the trail was flooded so we had to travel back and use mimok trail to get up to Dias ridge. wonderful day hike with good vistas. We ate at Pelican Inn and then returned the way we came. Be cautious for cyclists.

A perfect day to hike! The trails were wet, some parts had some mud and many spots walking on rocks was very slippery so extreme caution was needed. We did slip a few times but caught ourselves before falling. I would suggest bringing hiking pools for this hike especially in the winter months and a good pair of hiking shoes. The waterfalls was in its full glory and flowing strongly down the mountain. Absolutely breathtaking and therapeutic in every sense. Not too many people early morning but when we returned to the parking lot, it was packed. The app states the hike is 6.7 miles but it turned out to be 8.3 miles, though we were happy it was longer. Last, I would suggest counterclockwise unless you want more elevation to your workout/hike. It was approximately 2.2 miles to the Muir Woods cafe clockwise and 6 .1 miles back up following Fern trail.

Very difficult to find parking. You might walk up to a mile to get back to the entrance, even if you have a parking registration. Nice, relatively stroller friendly hike.
