Good trail, has some steep parts, and great views. This app doesn’t take you to the start of the trail, it takes you to street parking for the trail. To find the trail you need to head up the paved road Mount Wilson Trail.

If you get started at or before sunrise this hike is about 95% shade, but fairly steep. There are a whole lot of switch backs and the view is only okay until you get about .10 of a mile from Mount Jones, but looking back toward the mountains is lovely. 4/5 of it starts at sunrise, probably a 3/5 any other time of day.

Harder than I expected but a good hike. We took the wrong trail (Winter Creek) on the descent for 2 miles and had to go back up. That was tough but we laughed about it.

Did this to the waterfall. Great trail to go on if you want to get away from people. Didn’t see anyone after the parking lot. The waterfall area was very cool. No water though. My only wish was that it was longer.

Steep trail but great workout! Definitely doing this again! First part exposed, but the rest is under canopy with ferns, moss, etc. Amazing that there is still water in the creek at tye end of September! Would like this write-up to be updated, though. My Edmondo app on my phone, though the canopy may have messed up the distance rating a little, still said it was 8.1 miles from the trailhead, not 6.3 miles. Even the signs on the trail contradict each other, with one saying 7 miles and another saying 7.5 miles.

awesome hike, steep incline in but all down hill going out on the plus side!

Nice hike! Spotted a huge bear on the streets by Auburn and Grand View on the way to the starting point :D Once you reach First Water, time permitting, you can walk along the creek that leads into the forest. Scenic and serene!!

tough climb, don't feel like you are away with the city view everywhere. cloudy day kept the bugs and heat away

Great trail. Went up for the first time at 4:30 on an 85° day. Exposed for about the first half mile, then shaded the rest of the way as it cut through the backside of the mountain.

I ran this trail late morning around 10:30 in September. The area was exposed and didn't have a lot of shade. It's a tough hike and the summit portion has some parts of the trail that need some maintenance. Tough hike with a lot of elevation gain!

Good workout. Too hot today though. No shade.

Took Charlie’s new trail up to first water, there are a couple of cute benches to sit on and enjoy the view!

its rocked us ! I'm beat. super hard, but do able hahaha.

Holy hell!! The loop to jones peak from the north end of mt Wilson trail down to the south end was horrible!! Otherwise everything else was great!

Day was overcast, perfect to hike. Started at 7:45am reached the peak at 9:15. Descending was not bad but started to feel the heat on the last mile.

made it to Jones Peak hot hot hot

Nice view. Narrow and not many shade. Met a bear on the trail..!

Picked this trail for shade and a workout. Got both ! Left at 8 am would not want to leave any later in the summer ! Overall trail delivered on its promise!

Very overgrown (waist to chest high) and hot even though only 80 degrees. Didn’t finish.

This is a very difficult hike. Almost made it to the top. Downfall is lots of bugs. They will sting through your clothes. Beware of the bear family. I saw a cub and mama past orchard camp.
