trail around a mountain with no shade. steady incline the whole way, no very enjoyable. not my taste. vistas just ok, might as well do griffith

Hard trail. I don’t hike often maybe monthly but I’m fit. It’s good to get humbled a little I suppose. Epsom bath when I get home. Cramp central. Beautiful though.

This is my second time using this trail. It’s definitely a butt-kicker. Sun protection and at least 3L of water are a must!

This was a much steeper hike than I thought it was going to be! Wow! This time of year didn't require too much water... there is water on the way up and there are refill stations at the top. There are gnats but I didn't find them to bite. They seem to like your sweat...? I found my AllTrails clocked 15 miles up and back...not sure the discrepancy but no matter what, anything past 12 starts to wear on you with this kind of elevation. Overall, very nice day!

I really liked the trail it had many nice vistas. The place where the water collected was nice and shady. It was a cool place to just hang out and listen to the stream trickle by.

It was a good work out. First Water is a nice spot to hang out for a bit, maybe have a picnic. I would start early if you’re going to hike it in the morning. We got there at 10 and had no shade most of the way. I would recommend trying out Charlie’s new trail. Views were better imo.

Good trail, has some steep parts, and great views. This app doesn’t take you to the start of the trail, it takes you to street parking for the trail. To find the trail you need to head up the paved road Mount Wilson Trail.

If you get started at or before sunrise this hike is about 95% shade, but fairly steep. There are a whole lot of switch backs and the view is only okay until you get about .10 of a mile from Mount Jones, but looking back toward the mountains is lovely. 4/5 of it starts at sunrise, probably a 3/5 any other time of day.

Harder than I expected but a good hike. We took the wrong trail (Winter Creek) on the descent for 2 miles and had to go back up. That was tough but we laughed about it.

Very steep uphill. So if you want a workout this is the one for you. Make sure to bring tons of water, there are a couple of shady spots but mostly you’re in the sun.

Did this to the waterfall. Great trail to go on if you want to get away from people. Didn’t see anyone after the parking lot. The waterfall area was very cool. No water though. My only wish was that it was longer.

Steep trail but great workout! Definitely doing this again! First part exposed, but the rest is under canopy with ferns, moss, etc. Amazing that there is still water in the creek at tye end of September! Would like this write-up to be updated, though. My Edmondo app on my phone, though the canopy may have messed up the distance rating a little, still said it was 8.1 miles from the trailhead, not 6.3 miles. Even the signs on the trail contradict each other, with one saying 7 miles and another saying 7.5 miles.
