Love this trail, we have done it a couple of times. Last visit 1/9/19 a day or two after rain. Small waterfalls were running. it was foggy and overcast, providing a somewhat mystical experience. Trail was not invasively muddy despite the rains. We used this trail and others in the area last winter to train for our March 2018 Machu Picchu trek.

Perfect hike! There were several waterfalls that were more impressive than i imagined! Defidently worth checking out after a few rainy days this time a year

Chasing waterfalls! Great views, awesome sounds and some wet feet! Aside from it being very busy, it is a must hike!

Delightful winter walk with fine views (and sounds) of the falls and the countryside (and Clayton) to the north. There was some mud in mid January but nothing we couldn't navigate. The hike is a mix of fire roads and single track. There are some steep slippery parts of the actual waterfall section of the trail so we recommend a hiking pole. Nonetheless, we did 8 miles in 4.5 hours with plenty of ooh-ahh stops so thought the trail was moderate for us.
We started at the Mitchell Canyon Nature Center and went counterclockwise (see https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/diablo-waterfall-jaunt) . This entry has a fee and the hike to the falls is longer than Regency Gate (our loop was just under 8 miles), but you get better parking, bathrooms, nature center, boot cleaning station and the satisfaction of supporting your state parks.

Gorgeous trail with great wildflowers, rolling green hills and waterfalls at every step.

Written by my awesome 6 year old: “mount Diablo was great. It was very high. A lot of falling in the process. My favorite thing was the nature. Like an animal. For example, a bird. It was a really good hike. I think you might love it.”

Lots of hills, cows and views! Mostly wide roads except for the “secret feeling” portion through the woods.

Didn't plan on this trail but we ended up here. So glad we did! Hard incline at first, but worth it when we got to the lighthouse at the top. So beautiful. Air was fresh, weather was cool. They scenery absolutely gorgeous.

I actually don't know about this hike. I attempted to do it and decided to use the feature in the app of getting directions to the trailhead. Because I have never been to My Diablo I trusted I would end up at the trailhead. The app took me to the east side of the My Diablo to some almost unseen openings in the fence to access fire roads, etc. Just want to inform anyone that they may not end up at the trailhead. I would like to try and do the actual hike someday.

Always great views and amazing talks

Wonderful hike, went with 3 kids (9-11) who managed to make it with time. Would give it 5 starts but there was poison oak EVERYWHERE so keep an eye out. Aside from the poison oak there were wonderful views, will be going again (without kids

Parking was impossible at the start of this trail so we parked at Rock City and hiked the top loop and all around that location. Perfect for kids - lots of shade and great climbing and views. Glad we didn’t start at the bottom after all!

Not the most scenic hike I have done. I hiked during an extreme drought, I was disappointed to find out that the waterfall were completely dried out. The last part of the trail is extremely steep, a hiking stick can really come in handy.

Trail was a great length for the evening. Elevation change was just right for a workout and the views and sunset were perfect. Would definitely do this one again.

A leisurely stroll with decent views.

Would have been an easier hike had I not forgotten my water

really lovely and wonderful changes of elevations and sceneries

Nice hike. Took about 2 hours at a leisurely pace. Great mix of scenery and views.

Great trek for my abilities.

We hiked this trail mid June and it was beautiful. The up hills were a challenge but the view once you get up into the trees and can see the skyline is great. Definitely a great workout!

Awesome challenging hike with great views.

Hard if you are not in shape but the trail is in very good shape. Enjoyed the views!!

Very nice hike but be warned - Middle Trail and Back Creek trail are infested with ticks at the moment. They await on every blade of grass overhanging the trail. Proceed with caution and check for ticks often.

Great trail. Very steep in sections. Good workout if done quickly clockwise

Beautiful, at this time of year the creek is a little dry but get views and still some water

While this is a lovely trail, but the parking access has been badly abused. Users have been very disrespectful to the neighborhood. Please access this trail from the Mitchell Canyon Gate and parking lot. The trash left behind, the blocking of driveways and numbers of cars are making it likely that permit only parking will be implemented.
