Morro Bay State Park looks out over the bay to wind-sculpted sand dunes. Guarding the harbor entrance of the central coast’s Morro Bay, Morro Rock has been a landmark for mariners over the centuries. The park features lagoon and natural bay habitat. The bay's most prominent landmark is Morro Rock. The park has opportunities for sailing, fishing, hiking, and bird watching. The park museum has exhibits that cover natural features and cultural history, Native American life, geology, and oceanography. The park also has a colorful marina and an 18-hole public golf course. On the bay's northeast edge is a pristine saltwater marsh that supports a thriving bird population. Morro Bay has moderate weather. During summer days the area is 30 degrees cooler than inland areas. Dress in layers, especially at the ocean. As the water here is cooler than in Southern California, surfers generally wear wetsuits. Dogs are not permitted on trails or beaches.

It is gorgeous from the summit but hardwork if you start from the bottom and not the parking lot that is practically at the top.

First part easy, second part flat, third part about as steep as you can get! Going up is easy, coming down is slippery. Be careful! It was foggy for us, so the gnats were bad!

It was nice being in the wetlands. The boardwalk makes it easier and recommendable for people of all ages. It made for a nice walk after lunch at Bayside

We parked at the north end and headed toward Bayside Cafe for lunch. It was overcast and a bit chilly, but a nice view.

It’s a great walk if coming from Carillo but the No Tresspassing gate makes one go left on a trail that is a boulder scramble. Is the gate valid? It’s closed but not locked.

Very easy and beautiful nature walk.

Nice little, short trail that gave a great view of the bay. We were camping down at the campground and we decided to explore. There is some incline but not bad at all. Definitely enjoyed it!

Scenic raised boardwalk trail with a nice view of the grasslands/estuary. There are several entrances embedded in a neighborhood in Los Osos.

Beautiful. Windy and cold .

Wonderful hike. Incredible weather. A beautiful walk through the trees to get up on top of the hill. It is ALL uphill but not so exhausting that you don't enjoy the journey. I certainly enjoyed it and will be back for sure

beautiful boardwalk in a very unique ecological environment. many different bird sightings

Short and sweet hike! Parked at the bottom right before where it tells you to go on Apple maps. There’s a small trail off of it, one little sign! Fun and easy

Very short hike. Easy. Great ocean and bay views.

Absolutely beautiful view

This hike was amazing. It stared with a sandy terrain and takes you to the top of a hill that overlooks the water around Morro Rock. A few areas are steep but overall easy. My 6-year-old niece and mother-in-law walked the whole way up. You can also park your car farther up closer to the end of the hike if you just want to see the top. The hike is based close to a golf course.

Great view of back bay!!

Beautiful view at the top!

Great trail-wildlife, views, and exercise! Our dogs loved it, too. Apparently their noses were working overtime!!!

Outstanding 360 degree views! Short but Sweet...bring a picnic.

Beautiful hike. Iconic scenery. Go Cali !

Great until there was a mountain lion/cub sighting. Trail was pretty steep in areas; wish i wore hiking shoes to decrease sliding.

Great views and lots of trials to wander on

Nice easy walk. Get the guide for the flora and learn about the various trees. It is a special place if you stop to learn!

quick, easy and the views are so amazing!! I strongly recommend this trail. you won't regret it.

I love this hike and the trail around it, hardly anyone out there this past saturday morning. Fantastic views of the estuary, the rock, the stacks, all up highway one and few of the Morros..Few wildflowers still out hiding..

This trail is infested with mosquitos due to its proximity to standing water - takes all the fun out of it.

I used to go down here when I lived in Los Osos. Easy trail that borders the estuary. Just watch out for Poison oak. Moderate traffic and is always cool.

One of the first trails I ever hiked in SLO county. Moderate inclines and great views once you get up high enough. Would be a great place to mountain bike, walk dogs or just hike. Loop is fairly long so bring lots of water. There's even a spot where you can rock climb and classes are offered. Right next to the Estuary so it's fairly cool, with occasional dog if you're out there during certain times of the year. Overall a cool hike and recommend it to all age groups.
