Cool trail to take your kids and do a short walk along the stream under a canopy of trees all the way to the stairs.

Classic San Diego canyon landscape with river rocks on a partly shaded trail. The far eastern part of the trail includes a steep sandstone portion with deep grooves. Not quite a sandstone slot canyon (at least not yet), but beautiful, unspoiled, and definitely unexpected. Minus one star for constant road noise from the 52 and for general proximity to the freeway. Climbing down the sandstone part of the trail, I felt almost awkwardly watched by drivers getting on the 805 south from the 52. But it is what it is; the freeways aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and I hope the park isn’t either. Perfect for getting your nature fix without leaving the city.

I went around 10 in the morning and seemingly had the trail all to myself. Saw a handful of little lizards and a bunny rabbit, along with several snake holes. Beautiful trail, minus the freeway views towards the western-most points. Will be doing again.

Nice trail for skill levels. Pretty green and pleasant. Trail could be marked better.

The trail is nice enough but there is dog crap all over the trails and I would guess off trail too. I was there first week June 2018 and was lucky to see a mature and healthy looking bobcat!!

Very easy trail, plenty of afar so the vegetation is happy and green. There are always lots of other people and bikers, but the trail is so wide it’s easy to share.

I went out here to test the trail for running, as Afoot and Afield had listed it as a nice trail run. This is a really pretty, easy hike that has a lot of shady areas, a rare occurrence in San Diego. However, it is NOT suitable for running! Lots of river rocks and unstable surfaces make it unsafe for running. I'll stick to walking next time!

People! If you bring dogs, don't leave the dog crap-bag next to the trail. Pick it up and don't be lazy. BETTER YET, leave your pet at home.
Trail was decent, not crowded, and had benches here and there.

Scenerie is beautiful, the terrain is not good for biking. There is too many rocks to enjoy the ride.

Trails aren’t well marked and lots of rock along the trail. However, the scenery is pretty and it’s not too crowded.

Typical San Diego Canyon. Nothing exciting to look at and lots of river rock to roll your ankle on. Trails aren't well marked so we ended up taking the wrong one back to the parking lot.

Great spot for walking , lots of small rocks on the way , different trials to explore !!!!

A well defined trail. Lots of road nose, but that's to be expected. Kid friendly, but not exactly stroller friendly, some small sections are covered in small rocks. This trail is good for a nice relaxing walk.

Nice and easy trail. There's a steam too.

Great find!

this hike was more of a moderate hike. A lot of having to bend over to get under branches that have grown over the trail. Also there is poison ivy down by the river so be careful down in that area.

This was a fun, easy hike following some rain. On the cobb trail, I spotted two bobcats !

Easy walk. Pretty trail, with fairly good shade. Main drawback is noise from the nearby freeway.

Easy hike with a nice rocky climb at the half way mark... Took 2 chihuahuas and they walked the whole trail...

Very pretty, but right now there is a section that has some very aggressive bees. We got stung multiple times on two different occasions in the same place - east of Genesee, on the south side of the creek just before Biltmore Trail.

More of a walk, next to the freeway the whole time. Lots of poison oak and bees.

nice hike with diverse scenery. Very green lots of spring flowers. But you are next to the highway most of the time and can hear the highway noise.

Super pretty easy hike that runs along a little creek. Easy to get to, there are bathrooms a parking lot and a clear trailhead. The only thing is it runs along the freeway so you can hear the noise

Not bad for a walk in the park, or just going for a run. Not the most entertaining place for a mountain bike though. Some fun technical stuff, and some more expert type terrain is available too, but there certainly isn't very much. Was a well maintained area though.

Even though there's significant freeway noise from Hwy 52, this is an enjoyable place to cool off under a canopy of sycamores and oaks in the city. Easy walking with a couple of water crossings in rainier seasons. Make sure you lock your car. Good place to introduce kids to hiking because the trail is short and relatively flat.

Pretty hike but would recommend some music headphones cuz the 52 is annoyingly loud.... Also, as shown is not even close to 6.0 miles????

Nice hike. Included the side to the west of Genesse and went out to the railroad tracks next to the five. Also recommend going up Cobb street and Stanley trails for some great side hikes. We got in an 8-9 mile hike with the above additions. Aside from the constant traffic noise from the 52, it was a very enjoyable hike.

We weren't so impressed as you hear the hum of the traffic as you walk and the trails are not clearly marked.
