The MASH site is accessible - the description still says it's not. Beautiful scenery and easy hike. 100 degrees though with little shade. A dip at the damn cools you off.

It was a decent trail, a bit overgrown but I climbed up on the rocks which was cool. The area by the dam was pretty. I went on a Wednesday afternoon it was pretty hot but not crowded.

Hiking

Long hike from Latigo trailhead to Mesa Point. Lots of rocky areas and lookouts. Good workout.

Nice trail and also very easy, the lake was nice. Stayed there for about 1.5 hrs then headed out because it got too crowded but overall great experience worth the drive from Los Ángeles

It’s not possible to get to the hike via Latigo canyon and Castro Peak rd. The road is private - and unless you have a proper SUV you won’t get far. The real problem is that land is part of communication center and road is blocked off, therefore you’d be trespassing if you try to access it. Please do find different access points if any at all. Then take this hike off the app

HikingBridge outOver grown

Good early morning trail. Lots of shade before 8:30am and hardly anyone on the trail. Bridge is out but there is a wood plank set up to cross. After the bridge the trail is overgrown for about 0.5 miles but its not that bad. Street parking was completely full when we left at 9am.

Hiking

This trail was average, nothing special. Should be rated easy, not moderate. One small incline but that's about it. Nice hike if you haven't gone out in a while since it's long but not tough. I went at 10 am so still cool, not a ton of shade though so might get hot. Very disappointed with the ending at the lake, you dont even get a view lol. But if you go around the fence, You’ll get a nice view of the dam. And if you take the trail to the left, you can go up a few hundred yards and see more of the lake. Also got stung by a bee right above my eye on the way back lol. Not super crowded, big wide paved and hard dirt trail for first mile or so. Then gets narrower. Century lake is pretty, there's a hole in the fence and you can go walk on the damn and get a nice photo. Might be prettier at other times of the year.

Beautiful setting. My only complaint is almost no one wore masks

Hiking

A classic LA hike, perfect for all types of hikers and physical capabilities. The trail is popular so go early in the morning to steer clear of large groups and the hot sun. The path is manicured and there are not too many steep climbs. I do like the tourists points and the MASH props. A great hike for family fun time.

Parking $12 for the day or $3 per hour. Trail was flat, dusty, dry, and boring. MASH site was meh.

Make sure you get a good bacon and eggs-filled breakfast, preferably complemented with Vietnamese coffee and kiwi smoozie. Guaranteed bleepin’ good time

Good trail for a not so strenuous hike and early morning before the heat and large amount of people show up. The MASH set was a good place to take a break at the covered picnic tables. Watch for large amounts of lizards and snakes on the trail

Beautiful trail, with views and little lake, but barely has enough shade so I highly recommend doing it in early morning or late afternoon.

The trail has pretty wildflowers and is mostly shaded (in the morning). The first four miles of the trail are overgrown in many spots, which made it much slower and less enjoyable. The views at the top are pretty, but views of the valley are hidden for a good portion of the hike. Also distance is 13.5 from parking to top and back, not 10.5 listed in All trails. There are many other hikes nearby that are much better, in my opinion. I won’t be doing this one again.

Mountain bikingOver grownRocky

Pretty tough ascent through larger rocks. I’m athletic but new to mountain biking and had to walk parts due to the difficulty. Going down was a blast and well worth all the work to get up. Sort of a short ride since no bikes allowed after the trail goes across Piuma so I had to take the road back. I would say it was about an hour total. To me it’s worth it since I live a few blocks away.
