Very nice. Best if done during the day. It has lots and lots of exciting hair pin bends along with excellent view points for pacific

The road is open to bicycles and hikers per Andrew molera state beach ranger January 2018.

What a view!!!! Really enjoyed the time I spent there! just beware of dog ticks, there's a lot and I found some in my dogs!

Did it on a street bike on a long road trip....awesome road.

Easy driver a Toyota Prius could do it with no trouble. Great views and nice little 30 min drive with lots of scenery.

We did it from the PCH to inland. Spectacular drive up the mountain and down into the state forest. Steep, winding and narrow but only saw one other car the whole time.

Was like taking a hike in the car.

The most amazing day. Perfect and so much sunshine. I highly recommend this especially on a sunny winter day.

This is an awesome drive! Hairpin turns down the mountain and not for the faint hearted. If you are military or civil service, consider staying at the Hacienda which is in the city of Jolon and you can take Nacimiento-Fergusson Road to get to Big Sur for hiking.

No sand dollars but good view. The water actually looks better from further away.

Really cool little area! Very easy to miss. Just pull over after passing Sand Dollar Beach when heading south as Hwy 1 hits the first big bend. Probably a mile or so past Sand Dollar. You'll see little wooden stairs at a turn-off that go over the fence where you should start. Would have gotten a photo to help but my phone died.

Walking down the hill to the cove is pretty easy, someone has put some ropes to hold onto. Careful cause it gets steep fast. When down there I found some shards of Jade and a large red abalone shell. Pretty cool!

Advice, wear shoes and not sandals. Also check the tide charts! Don't go during high tide or you'll be stuck on the cliff and can't explore.

Very good motorcycle ride from the coast to gilroy, ca and back to route 1... We'll do it again

I stayed in a campground halfway down the road from PCH. The drive in and out and everyday was gorgeous--one of my favorite parts of my visit to Big Sur.

A nice quick walk down to a beautiful beach. Quick and easy--highly recommend! If you take some of the side trails that split off from the path down to the stairs, you'll get some nice views from the bluffs out over the beach.

A lovely walk through the bluffs, and then a scramble down into the actual cove. It's incredibly relaxing, especially because there aren't many (if any) people around, so take some time to sit in the cove and listen to the waves.

Super stinky by the beach but the kids thought it was hilarious. Short hike, no sand dollars, but lots of cool rocks and shells and an epic view of the ocean

Picture this.. You plan a camping trip around the Perseid Meteor Shower each year.. but when it peaks, cloud cover is thick. no way to see it. Duh, it's Big Sur in August. How do you get above the clouds in order to see an awesome sunset and check out the meteor shower on a coastline that is totally blocked by cliffs? Nacimiento-Fergusson Road to save the day. Like the other guy said... you drive a super windy road straight up through the clouds which is quite an adventure... but once you come out on top of the clouds, it's beautiful. There is a military base somewhere up here so don't be alarmed if you see vans full of military peeps. Just kick back and enjoy the view.

If you've got the stomach for essentially driving up the side of a cliff, this is a gorgeous drive.

A short walk down some stairs to the beach. As with the rest of Big Sur, incredibly picturesque, and nearly deserted (beginning of January). No sand dollars though...
