great trail. well marked and there is a guide you can use to follow the nature markers.

1.7 mile self guided nature hike. Make sure to pick up a pamphlets to explain each marked spot. If they are out I’ve included them in my photos. Not a flip flop wall, there is enough up and down to keep you warm. Enjoy

Rode from susanville up to devils Corral. Trail conditions were great. Some color showing up in the trees.

Did the middle half today going towards susanville. Nothing spectacular as far as scenery goes. Trail was average for this kind of trail. Helpful signage was non existent for Westwood junction or for where to turn off #44 for Westwood junction or Gomez. Tomorrow the 1/4 from susanville.

Nice fairly easy hike. There were some downed trees to climb over but not to tough.

Bring a flashlight. Wear good shoes. Kids would love this place. A cool place on a warm day. Was pretty busy when we went. Stop at J&J for eats.

Excellent trip. Lakes everywhere. Saw maybe 6 other hikers. Camped at emerald lake.

Hiked on a Monday and saw no one, but was swarmed by bugs and it was quite hot for much of the hike and the view at the end of the trail is underwhelming.

We never made it to the lake from this trailhead. We ended up setting up camp next to the creek around 3.5 miles in and exploring from there. The trail is difficult to follow in many places and impossible in others due to all the fallen trees and debris. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out where the trail went or just using gps to go in the correct general direction. The upsides were we did not see another soul backpacking for three nights, and off trail exploring can be done almost as easily as walking on the trail.

when you reach the top, Fred, or his wife, will greet you with a smile and give you a tour showing you all around the area. you have a great view of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. in the tower, you can see about 14 different mountain tops. there are side trails and this must be where the moderate rating comes from because the road to the top is a dirt road, but never dropped it into 4x4 until we crossed over on some of the side trails. great fun though!

Lots of uphill in the beginning but overall not too bad. The lake is beautiful and the trail is very clean. Hardly anyone out there

Easy trail with nice views of Eagle Lake

I grew up in these mountains and this is still one of my favorite sites. The map has you stop way too soon on a graded road. Keep going up the mountain and when you hit the end, you’re at the trail head. Still had some snow on it in mid June, which is always fun to play in but that meant we had to brush hog our way to the water (which I’m completely ok with).

I would recommend this trail for dogs on leash. The last crossing was a bit difficult for an older pup. In July the snow was gone, the trail was dry and the lake was in good view. Be sure to have good trail maps to get their and to follow, gps was minimal.

Awesome paved bike trail where my wife and I did bike riding here first time and loved it will come again , bike trail near lake shore in some places and you go for a swim or do a picnic too or just enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake , there’s RV motor home camping here Full hook-ups (sorry no cable) in some places just plan tent camping. I recommend to bring xtra bike parts(tubes) and the right tools if you need to do adjustments on your mountain bike . P.S. you may not want to leave , have fun !!!

Hike was ok not really worth my time to go again. It was a very short walk and I thought the caves were going to be longer but nope.

no shade

It was a nice little hike I did with kids that haven't really hiked much. There is no shade so spring, fall or early morning would be a better time to do it. We did it late morning on the hottest day of summer and we were ready to get back to shade.

The lake was beautiful but it was a difficult hike. Tons of steep hill climbs and switchbacks on the way in. If you’re into fishing there’s no fish in blue lake but it’s good for swimming in. I would do this hike again, just plan for breaks and be sure to hike when it’s not too hot out. Good workout.

nice easy hike with only a few places of questionable footing. mostly in shade but on a hot day the sunny patches will kill you. I saw no one on my hike, but granted it was 8am on a Monday in late July. there's a nice rocky outcropping for nice views of the creek if you go a little farther past the falls. nice place to enjoy a quick lunch before heading back

Such a great hike! In the summer, it’s a great way to escape the heat!

Another very fun for kids trail. As others have mentioned flashlight and sweater are recommended. The interpretive signs in the cave were informative. The ground is uneven and sometimes the ceiling is a bit low, not a problem for me at 5’0” but others may want to be warned.

Really cool geologic feature, bring a light (or a phone light only for more fun.) Gets very dark but only one way with no side tunnels so you can't get lost even if your phone dies just might take you a while to feel your way there.
