The children and I love this dark hike through the lava tube! Everyone did well with their own headlamps, as the floor is quite uneven.

Took a boy scout troop hiking down to the falls. It's a pretty short hike, but the trail keeps going downstream for quite a ways. We followed it for another mile past the falls before turning back. The creek was roaring with all the rain and snow this month -- a great time to see the falls.

Very easy hike. Amazing how dark it is inside. I love introducing people to the cave.

the trail was really beautiful. Just like the other reviews, youll see the yellow and brown trail marker across the road from the parking area, close to the bridge. the trail is sketchy in some areas as there was loose gravel and rock, but an overall beautiful hike near the creek. There is a lot to see going along. I was a little disappointed at the end at the falls, there is a fish ladder to gelp the salmon up the stream. A bit of an eye sore, but the falls were beautiful. No real trail marker at the end of the hike except a bench.

Beautiful and well-maintained right now. Took 4 humans and 5 dogs. Had a blast. Bring a picnic.

Nice fall hike.

started at the Tamarack trailhead and was a nice easy trail, even in snow.

Easy, paved walk. The hike offers shade and beautiful views of Eagle lake.

Fun short hike through a dark cave. VERY IMPORTANT: BRING A FLASHLIGHT OR HEADLAMP WITH BATTERIES FULLY CHARGED. It is completely dark in the the cave. There are markers and plaques with info through out the cave. The temperature can be 15F to 20F lower than the outside temperature in the parking lot so you might want a jacket. Highly recommend this hike if your interested in volcanic geology or caves. We loved it.

A totally rad place.

Lovely paved nature walk along the lake. Well shaded and lake front aplenty. Our dogs loved it.

Bring a flashlight! Its pitch black and completely fascinating. The ground is pretty uneven, but its spacious enough for a claustrophobic. I didn't even have to duck my head. Worth the stop!

Worth stopping to do when you are here! Doesn't take long and where else can you walk thru lava tubes!?!

The lake is in private property so you can't get to it.

Very short hike takes you through fairly large lava tubes - only took us 10-20 minutes but very cool experience!

I've seen the same Bald Eagle in the same spot two years in a row. This is a nice ride along the lake.

Great trail! Will definitely bring the family back for some hiking and swimming later in the summer as the water is ice cold right now. Some other reviewers wrote that the trail wasn't passable due to downed trees. It is important to ensure you are on the right trail. The trailhead is actually across the highway from the parking area, next to the bridge. It is marked, but you can't easily see the sign from the parking area. If you take the trail next to the blank wooden sign in the parking area, it is indeed impassable with downed trees. Happy hiking!

This is a nice trail! Although it is longer than the 4.9 miles that is said above.

This trail can go to crescent mills if you want to extend your run. I went 3 miles there and 3 back. It was an easy paved road with some rolling hills and great views.

Nice short stop to cool off and stretch your legs.

Easy, some nice views of Mt Lassen.

A very easy, relaxing trail that takes you along the west shore of Lake Almanor. We only walked on a short section of the trail, close to the Dyer Beach day access area. There's a nice parking lot there restroom. A big bonus was the public shoreline to hang out at and go swimming. It was a Saturday afternoon on a hot day, and there were only a few groups in the area.

Bring a good light! An awesome trail with some rough footing. Amazing lava cave. Everyone should go to experience this geologic trip.

Nice trail with some elevation. Interesting interpretive trail about local geology. Map is online but maybe available at the trail head.

Nice easy hike with stops featuring volcanic formations (the coolest one's are 10 and 11 which are off a little spur at some point during the loop). The trail is clearly marked and has a good amount of variety. Worth the stop if you're in the area.

The GPS leads you directly to a parking area near a bridge. There is a trail head just on the other side of this bridge. We were with a big group and the trail we found had lots of down limbs and was not ideal for families. Several miles up highway 32 there is a deer creek falls sign. Not sure if that is a different trail or not. But that is several miles from where these directions lead you.

It is a beautiful, peaceful trail. From start to finish though I think it is a little more than 11 miles one way.

Fun and informative. Could use a sign or two on the trail back to the parking lot.
