Great hike with very little traffic even on a sunny Saturday morning. I just hiked it on November 28th, 2020 and the trail was not hurt by the last fires in the area. no fire damage visible at all on the trail. A good hike to take on cooler days, as this is a very sunny trail with patches of shade. I would not recommend this trail on a hot day unless you are going early in the morning.

Incredible day for a hike. Saw lots of blue jays among the trees. I love hiking at Lake Sonoma for the diversity in terrain. A 10 for sure!

Lots of uphill either way. Great cool hike in the fall. Lots of fun animal tracks and nature. No water and lots of ticks.

Incredible loop through golden fields, manzanitas, oak groves, past turquoise waters, chirping birds, squirming lizards.. all of it a wonderful Fall day.

Great Hike with beautiful views! It was 100 degrees so should have started a little earlier but was able to shorten the loop! Plenty of spots for swimming too!

I liked this hike. Be sure that you bring enough water with you, especially on a hot day, as you'll encounter several sections of the trail exposed to full sunlight. You may also want to go for a swim in the lake afterwards. Park your car on Rockpile Rd at the Boat Launch parking place and walk down the stairs near the bridge to the lake.

RT was 4.6 miles and took about 1 hour and 50 minutes for two intermediate level hikers. My Apple Watch clocked 850 ft elevation gain. Beautiful scenery and we saw wild boars! Love being able to get close to the lake and the manzanitas are stunning. It was hot out but fairly shady for a late afternoon loop.

We liked going counterclock once at 1/2 Canoe.. that is gradual downhill and short steep uphill to Bummer Peak. Picnic tables under oak trees about 2/3 way up is a great rest stop

The trail was completely empty on a Friday afternoon in June. The trail is overgrown in a few spots so would definitely wear thick socks! Really great ending at the beach. Perfect for a picnic!!

Well marked, water access (didn’t see trail to water), gradual descent one direction, shorter steeper ascent going back. Choose either direction. We left fire road to North Ridge Trail for last mile or so.
