The view of Mt Shasta is amazing. The trail was pretty flat all the way around, great for dogs lots of room on the trail. Plenty of spots to go down by the lake.

Beautiful hike for a Fall day with all the trees changing colors and falling leaves! It was a long hike but relatively easy as it is pretty flat trail. Blazed our own way a few times and went off trail walking along the shore line since the water level was pretty low. Will definitely go back and maybe hike the opposite direction and stay on the trail for a new experience!

Easy walk but trail is a bit hard to follow where campground is. Not well marked

Great trail. Very easy. There is about a 1/4 mile worth of rocky ground / river rock that you have to walk over at about the 3 mile mark. It is nothing difficult, the path just changes from smooth dirt to very uneven rocks. Again, still very easy. I'm not sure where Alltrails came up with 300+ feet of elevation? This trail is relatively flat. Beautiful views all the way around with some awesome views of Shasta.

Great trail to hike or ride mountain bikes.

This trail had some beautiful views along the way, but it was very difficult to follow the trail. The trail signs were few and far between. To complete the trail, you need to walk on the side of the road for 2 sections and have to cross through a parking lot or two and campsites in order to stay on the trail. Like others said, this is more of an 8 mile trail. If I did this again, I would hike to the picnic area for the awesome views of Shasta and then turn around to avoid the confusion of other parts of the trail

Great trail for views of Shasta. Took a few hours, stopped for a beer at the con session stand. Shady and sunny areas. Recommended for anyone.

Pretty flat, trail is anything from paved to gravel, dirt and groomed walking trails and rocky on one side of the lake. It was mostly shaded and is dog friendly. Wasn’t very busy on a weekday morning in early September.

Perfect trail for beginners! Clocked in closer to 8 miles at a leisurely 2.5 hours. Not very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Mix of sun and shade.

Since it was around 90 degrees during our visit, we didn’t want anything strenuous, so we opted for the Lake Siskiyou Trail because of the photog opportunities. This is a very easy, beautiful trail. It offers a mix of shade and sun, and there are restrooms at a few spots around the lake. There are a couple of spots with INCREDIBLE shots of massive Mount Shasta. We didn’t meander too much (I don’t think) and clocked closer to 8 miles.

Fairly easy, moderate in spots. Took us 2 hours to complete.

This is an excellent flat trail for everyone. It ends with a great view of Mt. Shasta. There are two alternate routes during the trail. The second one is the nicest - gets your close to the lake to take photos of Shasta.

The bridge is up! And I have a funny story about this bridge . . . On June 20, 2019, a group of 5 of us started from the campground and walked counter clockwise around the lake. Easy hike, wonderful views, and then after walking 6 miles and being less than 1 mile from campground, we get to the wide stream and there is NO BRIDGE! We see a fallen tree a few hundred yards upstream. One of us finds a calmer part of the stream to wade across, while the rest of us go to the tree and walk across it (was not too hard, but then had to bushwack a bit on the other side). Just as the last of us assembles on the other side of the creek - we see a crew of about 10 people come to put up the bridge! They told us it would be done in a couple hours, so I have to assume that by late afternoon on June 20, the bridge was up. Overall a really great hike, with plenty of views of the lake and Shasta, and various streams feeding in. It's especially a good thing to do to get used to the altitude before trying harder hikes up Shasta or one of the smaller mountains around.

The lake is amazing. Six stars for the scenery. The trail had a weird culture, which made this a mixed bag. Near the bridge, there were a lot of obnoxious high school students on summer break. They sunbathe on the bridge so you have to walk around them. As you move toward the south end of the lake, there are a lot of campers, so it doesn’t feel like a private hike. It’s more like walking down a beach and looking for a place to sit.

Trail still closed at the river inlet. June 12 2019. Other than that great flat and easy trail with a great view.

A beautiful trail but, unfortunately, couldn’t do the full loop because there was no bridge to cross a significant (30ft wide) fast moving river flowing in to the north end of the lake.

Great trail but it is not possible to pass a certain area due to high water flow.

Nice and easy trail with excellent indications. Be warned that in May the main river (the second one out of the 3) on the east side has too much flow to be crossed. We did cross it using a natural fallen tree but it was dumb and very dangerous to do so and I do absolutely NOT recommend attempting to cross it.

Great hike, even in the winter, but would be amazing on a nice clear day. One thing to be aware of...half way through the hike there’s a water crossing that was too much to cross so we had to go back. Looking forward to doing this hike again in better weather. Great for dogs!

DO NOT DO IN WINTER Can't cross Sacramento River on Northwestern corner. I cycled till the river and back. good views. the lake is reflective making for good photo ops.

Easy flat walk. Great views of Mt Shasta from many different angles. Was there mid-week in January and saw only two people. Started at parking area on north side and walked a couple of hours to discover there was a river/creek that needed to be forded. Did not have the right gear and had to turn around. Good way to turn a 7 mile walk into a 12 mile walk!

Great views of the Mt. Easy going trail, mostly flat. Not sure where 6.5 miles came from, we showed 8.24 miles. The lake is really low this time of year.

I enjoyed so much the view of Mt. Shasta. I would have enjoyed more with less people walking their dogs. Besides Mt. Shasta view and the bridge, the trail is not really impressive.
