wonderful hike!

Nice breezes for a warm day, pretty smatterings of wild flowers and the front side was deserted. Second half of the loop on horseback/Brandon had more people (probably because it’s flatter).

Good civilized trail

Tranquil and scenic. Very well maintained trail and a lot of coverage of shades. It is a very comfortable hike even on a hot day. The 9 mile distance makes it a real work-out.

I've done this loop many times, both hiking and running. It's an excellent trail to run, just the right amount of challenge. Gorgeous views of the lake in some places. A nice mixture of sun and shade and excellent wildlife viewings. Love this trail - especially now that the dam is open again!

Clean, marked well, multiple challenging inclines, some scary narrow steep areas, finished in 2.5 hours running walking. Def would do it again

good little running trail

Family friendly flat Ezy walk you can ride your bike next to the water you can rent a boat you can also fish in the lake there’s parking on the street so you don’t have to pay the lot parking there’s also picnic area and BBQ pit

Perfect 1.5 hour hike with varied terrain and beautiful views.

The return 1/3 of the hike is definitely on the high end of moderate with the steep uphill climb, but totally doable. I went after a week of rain, so about 40 yards at the bottom at lake level were more creek than trail, but relatively easy to hop in most places. Horse poop at the top and accessible water at the bottom were a tad challenging to keep my off-leash dogs under control, though.

Great, very scenic trail. Thankful to live close enough to enjoy it often.

Was a fun trail took about 3 hours to complete. You get to see a great sight of SF through the trees. It was the first time actually going on a hike with my girl and my dog.

Most of this loop was paved concrete. Entered it via the marina dock as opposed to the trail head noted in the app. Very nice views of the lake.

Very nice trail. Partially sunny, partially shady, both flat and hilly areas. My feet started hurting around mile 7 and were killing me by the end, but after I rest up, I plan on doing it again. Also, I saw a wild coyote on the hike, that was awesome!

Hiked the around the whole lake, it was beautiful. Not to strenuous, we started on the left side by the bathrooms/Marina and would do that again. It was shady and the incline was not to bad.
Going the other way we would of been in the sun during a steep dirt trail portion. Started at 8:30am done by 1:30pm. Stopped after mile 5 or so, found a nice bench with a view for lunch.

This is the Lake Chabot Bike Loop. The dam project is now officially finished (as of October 2017) and the entire loop is open again.

I recommend doing the loop counter clockwise. The first 2 miles along the east shore are paved and there are a lot of pedestrians, so it’s a good warmup on the bike. Then there’s the steep ascent up Live Oak Trail that is the most difficult part. Once you reach Brandon, it’s a wide trail with a series of descents that is a blast on a bike. Eventually you’ll get off Brandon and make another less-steep ascent up Skyline trail and arrive at the Grass Valley parking lot. Then it’s downhill again on Goldenrod until you reach the dam. From the dam back to the marina is all paved with lots of pedestrians again.

Moderate

Hiking with my dog.

Fun hike. Great for dogs and kids as well. Great view of the city.

Beautiful! We just did 1.5 miles on the left side of the loop and then back. Saw four deer! Nice and shady Lakeside hike. Loved it!

I enjoyed this hike. It starts off with about two miles of pavement, then goes to about the off-road, and then ends up with the two miles of pavement.

Depending on the time of day, and the time of week it can get busy here, but the trails are well maintained, and the views are beautiful.
