Went last weekend on an organized goat hike - yes, I said goat hike! The area is still green and beautiful. Great view but not a lot of shade. Great exercise on the way up.

Tip: pack extra water, sunscreen, and a hat. Parking is limited but you can also park on the street so it should not be too much of an issue. Tons of mountain bikers which is really annoying, so just be on guard.

I stopped here on my way home to Nevada County. I went in blind and wish I had my backpack so my hands weren't full as I trekked up the steep incline. Nothing impossible but a slight challenge with items in both hands. I eventually took the side roads opposed to the steep incline. Hit a T in the road with signs but wasn't sure which way to go to return to my car so I turned around and took the side roads down. I felt safe and it was such a gorgeous hike up. Other hikers were friendly and ranged from families with young children to some senior citizens. There were a lot of mountain bikers up there too. I will definitely do this again with free hands and take that incline to the top!

Slow climb to the towers on wide dirt fire road. Trafficked by runners, walkers, and MTB (less so past the “saddle”). Great views of the Valley, Griffith Park, and La Crescenta.

Went there again last Friday in the late afternoon. Very nice hike. The mountain bikers were very courteous too.

It’s a solid hike up to the park (communications station). We like it because there is not much traffic at all, lots of quiet and solitude with great views of the valley to DTLA when you reach the summit

trail is closed due to mudslides don't know when it will be open.

I did this hike and it’s great I did a part of the trail where the vegetation was over grown and not maintained at all. Super scary for sure but I loved it. I didn’t know when it was ending tho. I was exhausted.

The views are really nice. Very few trees, so probably wouldn’t hike this in the summer, although you can find decent patches of shade against the hillsides depending on what time of day you go. Around the 3.5 mile mark, the listed trail wants you to take a steep incline up a hillside to a lookout point. Don’t take this route, it’s really washed out and sketchy. Stay on the motorway for a much safer walk. You can double back to the peak from the other direction on your return.

Great hike! I think best done in the morning and the views are awesome!

Great hike, but a little too crowded and the ending was dangerous after the fires turned the soil to ash.

A fairly peaceful hike. Quite a few mountain bikers but they were polite. The start and finish are a little steep but not bad. A nice way to get elevation.

Disappointing that there is no loop.

Want to feel the burn go here !

Did about 1/2 the trail then came back. Very cool since recent fires have burned back alot of vegetation. Kinda looked like Mars in some places. Saw a few bikers, hikers w dogs, & 2 bike cops on electric bikes. Pretty neat. Some steep climbs, but not terrible.

Pretty steep, constant climb from start. Feels more like a workout than a hike. Bring sunscreen - the trail is completely exposed. Really nice view at top amongst all the cell phone towers.

I took the easy way up. But coming down was a different story. It was like the scorched trials. It was very Sandy and filled with loose dirt. Some of the path way on the side of the mountain disappears and you kind of have to walk on the wall of sand to get across. It spit me out on the side of the road down the street where I parked. Overall very fun and difficult.

pretty easy, but keep in mind it's a steady uphill from the beginning to the top. amazing view once you get up there! we could see even catalina island to malibu from the top.

Good. But when you get to what the map says is the top, don’t take that left and go down that way. Extremely soft steep dirt. Go back the way you came.

Beautiful trails!!

Even more awesome now with sights from the burn area

5/5 for the awesome views
NOTE: Do not follow the map provided! At about halfway, it was extremely hard going down loose soil and the unpaved trail
Lots more other trails connect to this one

Love the Stough Canyon Trail when I'm looking for a quick hike after work. The trail starts at the nature center, which has a parking lot and full bathrooms (open the same hours as the nature center). This trail is lightly trafficked, even less so as you get closer to the top. Unfortunately, the fire burned a large majority of this area, but there is no issue with the trail itself.

I'd rate this hike on the easier side of moderate although the first section heading up from the parking lot is a steady incline. There are a few points in the trail with different options depending on where you want to go (overlook, old youth camp), but the signs are clear. Additionally, there are benches and lounge chairs at various points if you want to take a break and enjoy the views! The trail is full sun exposure - bring lots of water. Also, keep an eye out for the mountain bikers who come flying down certain parts of the trail; not all are very good about watching for hikers.

Starts high. How high? Reallll high winkiefacemoji

Not well marked (lots of unmarked forks, especially to do as a "loop" which requires a 1/4" mile walking on the side of the highway at the end but great views of both DTLA/back of hollywood hills and the valley.

Awesome views within 1000 feet. Nice high altitude start point

plenty of shade, and a great panoramic view from the top.

Felt the burn! Love the mountainous view on a clear day.

Very exposed. Bring plenty of water and sun protection and come on the earlier side. Trail is nearly shadeless after 9AM. Beautiful 360 view at the peak, but no shade to hang out and have a snack. This is also not really a loop as the map says. I highly recommend sticking to the beaten path. Also watch out for rattlers.
