Hiking

The last time I walked this trail was about 10 years ago. Sad to see how much more dead and dry it’s become over the years due to the drought, but it’s still a nice little walk not too far from the city but for enough to be peaceful. Lots of little trailheads and loops that I intend to come back and hike.

It’s a great place to visit for a local & easy walk. BE WARNED the window of my and two other cars were broken and stuff stolen. Don’t have ANYTHING visible in your car.

Hiked Kaweak Oaks Preserve again with my granddaughter. Had a great time just talking. Went on just about all the side trails in the preserve. Hiked about 6 miles today.

First hike with my 14 YO granddaughter. Flat, easy, peaceful. Lots of shady spots for breaks. Good signage and well-marked trails.

Peaceful, easy trail with a nice view of the mountains. Restrooms (latrine-style) were clean and had hand-sanitizer. This area has very little shade so wear sunscreen or some form of sun protection. The highway was audible given the close proximity of such a big road, but the sound of birds and the breeze helped to drown out the noise. This area is still open for public use as of 3/30/20 - access has not been restricted due to COVID-19.

Nice easy trail with lots of options. I was waned not to leave any valuables in the car because the parking lot area is frequented by thieves. I brought my dog and encountered several other families with dogs. Trails are clearly marked and well maintained.

Easy walking and peaceful. There are lots of side-trail options, all equally easy. Kaweah Oaks Preserve is best in the spring when it’s somewhat green. Great place to get kids into nature!

I love going here daily with my dog, occasionally will see cattle grazing. Beautiful and rarely used during the morning, gets pretty busy after about 10am.

The Valley Oak trail recently opened, it’s a bit longer that the other loops but you walk among the cows, which was a fun experience for the kids. It’s a wide opened trail with no shade. There are other trail options with shorter loops and lots of shade. Bathrooms are clean....Truly enjoyed the trails, did it two days in a row and the weather was perfect!

Pleasant walk with my dog. I wouldn’t say that it was anything special but we still had a nice time.
